Nightblade Madness

So, I felt like a change. I play only 2 chars in DC. Created myself the only class I have yet to play, a Nightblade, and I chose AD this time round. First area, I was like wow, 4 Nightblades, ok then. Got the to the beach - 8 nightblades running around. On my way to Mistral I saw 2 on a bridge. At this point I logged out, deleted the new level 7 Nightblade I had created and went back to my DC sorc.
What the hell is with all the NB's? Do people find the other classes so unappealing?

It's in preperation for the new patch which is mean't to be a complete gank fest, and considering nb's are so strong in pvp compare to templars or dk's, i'm not sure how good sorc are in the new patch.

Everyones jumping on the nb bandwagon.

Night blade was the closest fit to all the characters I have played in other TES games. Plus it seems like the perfect fit for Thieves and Assassins guilds.

I like the stealthy nature of the class.

Nightblades will only be a problem in IC for those who don't know how to counter them. All I need is one person in my group to have the Sentry set + Radiant Magelight + Flare + detect pots and we can see you coming from a mile away, your stealth attacks won't stun, your stealth attacks will get reduced by 50%, and there's nowhere you can hide.

The better players don't use stealth/cloak to just get away/hide or melee stun you..

True, but this setup will stop pansy stealth hit-and-run gankers dead in their tracks.

Because zerging is much more impressive.

On another note, I find it kind of funny that OP felt the need to mention how NB's are fotm while he's a sorc.
Knee Jerk, L2P, Obtuse, Casual, Entitled, All The Best, unnecessary mention of CoD

Night blades are just so cool,I don't use it to run but it's awesome riding hard into battle, then jump off the horse into stealth and get into character.then while everyone is fighting you pop in and save a team mate or pull off the unexpected. At least that was the plan: p

Nightblade was my first character. Now having played all 4 classes I find myself going back to my NB for most activities. With IC coming NB seems to be the go to class as well. With the nerf to perma-block, heals, shields and bolt - stealth seems to prevail. Not to worry it's probably just a FOTM thing. As people play and experiment with 1.7 more there will be plenty of viable options for all classes. NB just seems to be the most easily adapted class at this moment.

It is a legitimate reason you'd see more in Dominion territory, though.

That said, Imperial Nightblades are beastly. I'm not sure what the Orc's excuse was.

    This is your answer.

Back on the Bethesda forum, it seemed the vast majority of the players who played Skyrim and even Oblivion played stealth-based characters such as Thieves, Assassins, Witchunters and ... oh yeah ... Nightblades. (Yes, before you type it, I KNOW Skyrim didn't have any classes.) There are dozens of mods in both games to enhance the shadow-lurking, sniper style of game play.

    Yeah, it's a popular choice.

But I agree with you: the AD does currently seem to have a abundance of nightblades. In addition to the reason others give, some of those may be alts for players who know enough about the AD to know that your role as an "Eye of the Queen" is one of stealth, assassination and spying.

War does not determine who is right - only who is left.

The heroes during times of war, are nothing but mass murderers during times of peace.

(Yes, before you type it, I KNOW Skyrim didn't have any classes.)

It's still a valid assessment. A lot of TES vets that came to Skyrim already had established playstyles in mind, that were informed from previous titles where there were actual classes.

Because they are fotm already now and will be by far the easiest class to get around on in IC. Everybody knows it, there is absolutely no reason to tippytoe around it.

I tried NB Healing because I like support made a High Elf because I like the AD most so High fit the bill. Prefer my healing Sorc over my healing NB though and prefer my Bosmer templar Archer Support over anything

My little Khajiit, alt, stam' nightblade, had his first run into Haderus, EU, at level 15 last night. And it was glorious. He only had two bow skills on his second bar. But he plugged the hole in the keep outer wall, to stop the bananas from sliding through. And then two handed his way in on the flag mages while capturing a resource, while all the VR's held back.

It was a breath of fresh air from all my Sorc zapping I've been doing to VR 14.

ikr. I've been sorc zapping since I started this game, and Nightblade looked like a lot of fun. It's just not a lot of fun when everyone is playing the same class, using the same spells.
Vampire seems to be a popular choice these days, so I wonder if that has anything to do with the increased number of NB's.

I find NB healing so fun, but yeah it is probably the most popular class at the minute, though some people struggle as it doesn't have a nice heal like GBD.

After months of playing only Sorc, having tried DK and Templar and didn't care for them, I stuck with the Sorc because I was having fun being OP with my Clannfear pet tanking and me blasting everything from range. Then a couple weeks ago I thought I'd try a NB, so I created an Imperial NB and have been having a blast- much different than Sorc, much more 'in your face' game-play, which adds more excitement versus mindlessly blasting enemies from range. I will say I've struggled more with my NB while soloing Group bosses, whereas my Sorc would just burn most of them down without a problem. Typically though, if I die, it's because I failed to utilize my skills properly- biggest problem is, while leveling, you're constantly trying new abilities and trying to implement them into a new rotation. With Sorc, there is a standard rotation with specific skills, whereas NB offers a lot more options depending on play style.

Last night I became a vampire for the first time, thought it'd work well for my NB and so far that has made the game even more fun. Since I don't PvP, the whole 'fire issue' or Fighter's Guild isn't a problem... and with changes coming in 1.7, being a vamp should be even better.

I also have to wonder though, about so many NB's recently... not just because of IC, but also because of the announced upcoming Thieves Guild and Dark Brotherhood. Maybe new players are thinking if they are going to level a character, they should pick a class that will seem to fit those future DLCs. I created mine because it was a class I hadn't played and wanted a break from the Sorc boredom... and honestly I expected to hate it since I am really not a melee-type player... but who knew, NB turned out to be much better than expected. :)
