Crown prices are awful

For a Dwemer motif its 5000 crowns. That's like £18. most addons that small in other games are £2. are ZOS really that greedy?

You have the option of not buying it with real money - which is where the greed accusation always gets a little funny. If people are willing to pay that much for something cosmetic, why not charge it? If people aren't then the price will eventually be lowered or Zenimax will simply not earn anything off that item.

You do get a crown stipend when subscribing, so you could save some of that until you have enough for the motif, lord knows nobody actually needs all the damned reskinned dogs, cats, horses and horrendously overpriced senche mounts.

But that is the problem with all cash shop games; people are willing to pay out the nose for the cosmetic items they simply must have

In game gold via guild stores/trading, grinding it in dungeons, simply not buying it; the usual MMO avenues.

The ones that were in the game prior to the cash shop, yes.

Bay Dun, Brown Paint and Midnight Steed horses (42k) Sorrel Horse (10k - pricing here is still ridiculous considering there's no differences now, but that's a whole different issue) The Imperial horse which came with the Imperial expansion on release - Whether this costs gold or cash depends on what you believe you're paying for in that expansion. The Striped Senche was a loyalty reward for those of us who paid to beta test the first year for Zenimax.

    Full sentences? Worth using?

You can either grind the gold out and pay, which will cost you time; or you can pay the crown price which will cost you money. What your time is worth to you is what makes the decision - that's what cash shops are all about; that's why they exist.

Horses are just skins; you are now paying for each character's riding skill to raise speed, stamina, or bag space.

If you don't need a specific color, pick the one you can afford.

No. It's because the Motifs in the crownstore are an alternate to collecting them in game like a legitimate player.

Also, don't buy it from the crown store. It requires specific, difficult to obtain, materials to produce. So, just buying the motif won't do you any good, you also need the frames. (Same thing goes for the Ancient Elf, Daedric, Barbaric, and Primal motifs, though their materials are more common.)

So, no, go run Dwemer ruins, collect pieces. Put together a full motif book in game (or pick up one of the purple motifs as loot), and get on with your day.

While I'm not thrilled with the pricing in the Crown Store, this is an MMO. And MMOs require servers, which require maintenance. There are recurring costs involved in keeping this game going.

And, since this is B2P now, many are playing this game for only the $60 upfront price.

    @EnglishDragon17

As JKorr said, they're just skins and come down to personal preference.

At one point in ESO history, Mount choices matters. Some were geared more for stamina, while others inventory or speed. Those were base stats, which could be upgraded through the usual training, however. They only effected that one mount and that one mount only.

Now, mounts are purely cosmetic and any amount of speed, stamina or capacity training you acquire is shared across all mounts you own on your one character (mounts are shared account wide, but training is still at the character level).

Sad noob moment and I'm prepared to admit it. I wasn't paying attention when they first made this change and was still trying to upgrade mounts separately. I couldn't figure out how to switch to a the senche mount they gave us to upgrade that one instead. It was a sad, sad, noob moment when I realized what was going on lol

No, they are not worth buying. Unless you really like horses. I don't think any of the store mounts are worth buying either. I just need my mount to get me places quickly and to increase my carrying capacity.
