I guess one thing that they could directly use would be something like "new and innovative perma death mode dungeons" advertising.
And the return would have to be greater than the investment. Would they spend thousands (pure guess there) to create something that maybe a few hundred people would use?
Well yeah if only a tiny bit of the population did use it, it would be pointless, but I still reckon it would be atleast 20%.
It would be a big gamble but there are alot of people who love gambling.
