The ability to pickpocket other players, now hear me out im not talking about other players being alloud to steal gold or regular items. Instead the way i would see this being implemented properly is you would only be able to steal the items that are tagged stolen that a player lifted from an npc.. And would have a limit to how many times you could pick pocket from the same player... Also if you the victum of the crime catches the pickpocket it would bring up an option to dismiss the person or call for the guards.. Probably will never happen but i think it would be cool

Maybe as an insentive for stealing from a player instead of just doing it from npcs is it would have a chance to upgrade the stolen item the player has on him to a higher quality item for a higher payout

You know what I think would be cool? If you catch someone pickpocketing you, you can the call the guards and perma-kill them. Their character and all it's stuff is gone and they have to start from scratch at level 1. That would be cool.

Potential for griefing is high with any "pickpocked players" idea... thus it'd be hard to implement in a decentway.
Now, stealing stuff they already had stolen is an interesting idea. But it will just mean the pickpockets will wait in the outlaw refugees to steal from any player coming to laungder that purple motiv they just stole... which if successful, would generate a Lot of vexation. And the powers that be don't want their players vexed, they want us mostly happy and busy playing (and most importantly, spending money on) ESO. So I doubt this has much of a chance...

If they add PvP-theft, it likely would have to be flavor only, allowing theft of only neglectible sums of gold, perhaps the odd potion or such...
    ...
...hmmm... possibly Tel'var stones too, once IC goes live... though if you can sneak up on someone that well there, you might as well go ahead to gank them and take all their stones...

Again, I doubt it will ever come, seems like too much effort for too little enjoyment.

Though it would be cool to be able to pickpocket players... for example, a "purse snatching" that has a target-bound cooldown of 24 hours (meaning, any character can be stolen from only once every 24 hours, no matter how many people try, but the thieves can try every character that comes in sight), and nabs you, say, 1-3% of the gold they carry depending on your luck/skill... (meaning at low levels, you risk your life for crap, but if you manage to find someone really rich, you might... get what you otherwise earn in a ten minute dwelve run. Again, not really worth it except for achievement... but most importantly, no big loss for the victim!). With a good chance of getting discovered... both from that character, and any NPC bystanders... and if caught by the player that would open an interaction screen where the victim PC grabs the perp PC and gets to choose to either cry for the guard (giving perp a bounty and setting the guards on 'em) or let them off with a warning...

Or a "right of theft" implementationsteal something unbound from a characters inventory, it is marked as "owned by ×××" and can never be laundered or sold, will be returned if you ever get caught by the guard, but can be returned to the owner voluntarily for unspecified "favors"...

Like I typed, prolly too much effort to code for too little gain in game enjoyment...

Many existing topics on this, spread over the whole time since justice system was announced. The reasoning didn't change.

No, because griefing. Also, opt-out is no option, since you could opt in, rob a player, opt out and get away with no chance of retaliation.

Also, how to handle the fact that you can't go invisible to players of your own faction. Too much additional modificatioms to existing gameplay necessary.

If it was implemented they would have to make it for no xp, otherwise people would be on here complaining about how people are leveling legerdemain too fast.

Well, and that's the problem, right?

If you can actually take something from another player, you'd get stuff like the thieves in UO griefing newbies and driving them out of the game.

If it's just you pilfer some cash they're carrying, then no one would carry cash on them.

If the cash came from the aether, you'd have players pickpocking their buddies for free cash.

If you're not letting them get anything, then there's no point to the system, and the whole thing is pointless.

While I don't like the idea of being able to take someones stuff from their inventory, stolen goods or not. I would love it if you could assist the guards in taking down a player that is caught and maybe then and only then being able to have a share of the stolen goods that the culprit no longer owns.

And that would be the enforcer system that ZoS has talked about, had in development before the justice system was released, and we will probably be getting the Thursday after never.

Yeah, let's steal from other players. So that legendary quality weapon you just made with a legendary enchant on it? Yep, that's mine now. And there's nothing you can do about it because losing all your hard work to someone that didn't earn it is how the game works.

Does that sound good to you?

    I agree with this.

If PC v PC theft ever were to become a thing, this should be a logical addition to the justice system.

Sounds cool. I think only the people within 5 ranks of your ledgermain could be available for you to pick pocket. This way an easy system of non participation by evolution safeguard is in place.

If you steal a lot your ledgermain goes up. Only savage thieves could steal from savage thieves. I like it because I'm almost VR14 and my ledgermain is 6. I never steal so I wouldn't be worried about a player who has such a high ledgermain rank from always stealing trying to steal from me. Viola or nah?

    No thank you...

It seems so many players in this game don't want to EARN anything. They either want ZOS to had it to them or steal it.

Not to be mean but you should take the time to read the post before you criticize it. I never once said players could steal weapons or armor only items that already have the stolen tag on it exluding armor and weapons. And to cut down on griefing they could make this function only avaliable out in the wild and not alloud to steal intown.. Also yea the stealing from same faction you cant go invisable but neither can a pickpocket in real life so there really wouldnt be much of an advantage as well as if they limited the amounts of time you could steal from the same person per day to litteraly just one time per individual per 24 hours. Those would cut down on griefing and who cares if you lose an item you stole from a desk that was only worth 30gold .

also make it an option you have to opt in for so its not active by default so only players who toggle the thief option in the ingame menu would be alloud to steal from each other and not the people who dont want to participate in it

Instead of taking 80% of Tel Var stones from players in IC, we should take 80% of their CP. LOL
