I am just starting provisioning writs, and the last time I done one I had both the recipes. Is this a coincidence or should the writs be a recipe I already know? If not it must be tough to get that recipe considering there are quite a few...
You need to obtain the recipe's the writs ask for. The initial writ is more of a 'let's help you begin' sort of setup and thus gives you all the required items to complete said writ. For getting recipe's it is not as tough as it may seem, simply have a guild store addon that has a search box, go to your largest city trading hub (Covenant: Wayrest, Stormhaven, Ebonheart Pact: Mournhold, Deshaan, Aldemeri Dominion: Elden Root, Grahtwood, Craglorn: Belkarth (if you have access to it)) and search for the recipe you need. You are more than likely to find it
Ahh, well as for the addons thing simply go to these major city hubs and search for consumables recipes and have a good scroll through the recipes available
Just pray you don't get the carrot soup and golden lager writ , I got it on day one and gave up trying after buying/finding almost 200 other recipes . If you do get this writ trust me and abandon it straight away then pick up another the next day.
Quick tip - it can be hard to find a specific recipe if you wait to buy it until you need it, so if you have the credits, I recommend making a list of the provisioning writs at your level (and, if possible, those at higher levels) and buying them when you see them at a good price from guild traders. That way, you'll have them when you're ready. There are only 6 recipes needed per level. Also, once you get them, if you have the bank space, make them ahead of time so they're ready. That way, you don't have to worry about having the ingredients on-hand each time you get a writ.
I have been forced to cancel several of my provisionary writs because it was just not possible to find the recipes, I am level 39 now and have yet to find the honey brew or the roasted corn......
What's the matter? Did somebody steal your sweet roll?
Guys, I don't understand the requirement to abandon the quest unless you exhaust all guild traders.
Each writ recipe can be located in a guild trader if you look hard enough and have the credits.
I have gotten a few of them that way BUT it can take some time with traveling etc.
OP, the advice regarding guild traders is solid and you should do it, but, do it sooner rather than later because the longer you leave it the less chance there is, of finding it, as others will have the same idea and will be looking also.
If you are Ebonheart Pact (on NA server) then message me on PSN (username same as here) and if I have it I will give it to you for free OR a voluntary donation of any Alchemy ingredients
This master provisioner wishes you good luck

Looking for a good NA PS4 guild that offers a bit of everything? New to the game and lost? Need some guidance and help?
Look no further, Ebonheart Guild of Shadow has been here since launch and we got you!
PSN message Heathenpride for an invite.
You don't need the recipe. You don't even need to it, you don't even need one of you character to make it.
You can buy the item or make it with one of your other characters.
Note: If you buy the item, make sure you buy the Green version. There are lootable versions of the writ items and they will not count. Only the crafted (Green) versions will work for the writ.
