Reached VR14 and havent finished Cadwel's gold yet. (At Reapoer's march atm)
I am not grinding, just doing every single quest, dungeon, dailies, an occasional PvP.

That aside I can imagine questing can become boring on new alts. On my alt I am just skipping conversations chasing the compass markers. But hells, I cant imagine myself doing a 3rd of 4th alt. 2 characters I am more than comfortable with.

Text chat could be a HUGE improvement would it be added, I agree here.

I feel you m8 i have the same its a pain in the ass to do all those quest all over again

It would be nice that we get a exp buff when you have 1 char on max lvl
    So the alts lvl faster

You kind of do get a buff by having a high level while levelling an alt as they can craft gear and consumables that make character stronger than someone playing through first time and as such reduce the amount of time taken to kill stuff reducing the time to complete stuff. Also your knowledge of the various quests reduces the time taken to complete them as you know where items are, npcs are standing and mechanics for various missions.

    1. This is just how MMOs work. It takes time. Console players might not be used to this as there really aren't many MMOs on those platforms. As someone that has played PC and Console MMOs (and is only playing ESO on console), I can say that this has not been a problem for me.

    2. If you're planning on playing end game content and you haven't got voice, you are going to run into problems, in my opinion. As I progressed through the vet ranks, more and more people did have voice, knew their character and class, and were happy to work with one another patiently to clear content.

I start playing at console launch and I'm vet 11.

That is without really trying. I've played a lot of pvp before vet, do a lot of dungeons, often many levels lowers to help someone in the guild (so little xp) as well as messing around in daggerfall buying and selling things.

It's really not hard to level up.

Alts may be annoying, but the first time round I see no problem with getting to v14.

You sit here and compare everything to Destiny as if it's some magical perfect MMO. Destiny doesn't have text chat. Destiny doesn't have group finder. Destiny didn't even have voice chat for a long time. Destiny has an awful level up system based entirely on RNG. Destiny doesn't have guilds. Destiny doesn't have crafting. Hell, Destiny doesn't even have content to play after 10 hours. This game has an absurd amount of content and a variety of things to do then Destiny. Destiny is one of the worst MMO's ever.

Destiny shouldn't be considered an mmorpg, it's just borderlands with multiplayer.

If eso on console is considered an mmo then destiny is too

The point is that throughout all the effort they put into the game, they should be a master of their build. They shouldn't have to rely on superior level. Just because they farmed zombies for days on end doesn't mean they should have a statistical advantage over someone else.
    Skill vs time.

Wrong, mmo's are all about the grinding and gear, the person that plays more and gets that great gear should always have the upper hand. Sounds like moba's are more up your alley.

I was watching a video on some mmo called <censored> (I'll try and refrain game naming). While the game looks like a massive piece of crap it did have one interesting feature: everybody was the same level. You start the game, and you're basically on the same level as someone who has been playing for 60 years. Why? It doesn't have levels. You have points. Certain gear requires a specific amount of points before you can use it - that's all. You get points from quests, deconstruction, and other stuff. Seems like an interesting direction and I'd be curious to see how that pans out. Unfortunately I won't, because the game itself looks terrible.

I think you missed the point of reaching max level in a game. Max level in every game has to be earned, and you are supposed to learn along the way. If you speed through all the levels you will not gain all the experience and will just be a "noob" max level.

This is not Destiny where the game starts when you max out your character, this is a journey and if you would like to be a max level player in no time, you will have to work for it.

I really do like the V ranks and see no problem of them staying, however they have something else in the works.

I have just reached V14 the other day, and I still have a full 3-4 Gold Zones to complete. I have done A LOT of dungeons, Dragonstar Arena and other stuff to level up, helping me get good gear among other things.

I've never understood the point of reaching "the highest level"... for what? People complain that they have no 'end game content' when the fact is, they've RUSHED through and/or skipped the majority of CONTENT just because they thought some magical event was waiting for them at the end... but when has this ever been the case in ANY MMO?!? In every MMO, once you get to the top, then you're just WAITING for the next DLC release... and what happens, those same players complaining about lack of content RUSH through the new DLC, so they can sit and complain a couple more months about no content. It just boggles my mind how people make choices and then complain that it is the FAULT of the game.

ESO was released 10 weeks ago today and you're at the endgame and bored.

I was looking for some stuff from the traders so I ran my characters in all three factions through all 5 zones to find the way shrines & traders.

What I saw was heavily populated 2nd & 3rd areas while the 4th & 5th areas were sparsely populated.

You flew through it and hammered it and you're burnt out on questing? It's painfully obvious why.

I don't think you enjoyed the game.

You wanted to beat it as fast as possible and you did.

    Congrats.

Most of us are still in the second and third areas having a blast.

What is the difference between VR14 and level 60?
Do you really think that an MMO stays at one level cap?
The level cap is the level cap and it always goes up.
So Imperial City takes it to VR16, if there were no VR it may just be level 70.
Would that make you feel better?

Yeah, like it or not, the ever-higher level cap is a cornerstone of the modern MMO. If you're going to play MMO's, it's just a fact of life. And even if you didn't have that, it would just be replaced by gear grind (most MMO's now have both).

Unfortunately, in the MMO world at least, you can't sell expansion packs on story alone.

Actually reaching max level in alot of mmos is where the game begins. Focus just switches from level progression to gear progression.

Here are the only criteria that matter to Bungie (and ZOS, for that matter):

    1) Destiny has sold over 10 million copies, with millions still playing
    2) Destiny has made a BUTTLOAD of money, and CONTINUES to make a buttload of money.

Yeah because fair and balanced pvp is out of the question :(
    It shouldnt be that way

it's a mmorpg not a moba, if people who have played 10 times more than you and worked on their character 10x more, famred mats and such 10x more than you get no advantage whats the point?

    I mentioned Destiny once...
But your entire post makes it seem as if you came to ESO expecting it to be more like a MOBA or FPS than a proper MMO.

ESO is a proper MMO, and as such Questing is a hefty part of the formula.

After reading your OP and responses several times to make sure I had captured all the nuances of your arguments, it has become apparent to me that (IMO) you were expecting more of a FPS/MOBA than a proper MMO when you came to ESO.

It also seems that (based off of those proclivities), you joined Guilds and made friends with people who are/were also expecting quick-leveling FPS's/MOBA's, and thus left once they realized that ESO was none of those.

It is quite possible that ESO (as well as many other proper MMO's [which does not include Destiny]) simply is not the game for you.

All I can say as a PC transfer to PS4 leaving the text issue out is there is no difference in time or effort between the PC and console versions.

I just reached VR14 on my PS4 character and it was exactly the same grind of quests as when I reached VR14 on one of my PC characters.

I would say about 60% of enemies on PS4, EU, Haderus are VR 14 now. That is a lot of pain on the way. But you know what you have to be more aware. Expect a ganker if you take the direct approach to a keep under siege. Or go in through a side door standing upright.

PvP players are in a race for VR 14. PvE players enjoy the journey.

This post will not take you an unusually long time to read.

I just don't understand the mindset of wanting to quickly get the same rewards that others have spent a significant amount of time earning. I'm sure Marcus Marriota wants to get the same treatment as Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady and Peyton Manning but those guys have earned their MVP awards through hard work. I wish I made as much money as my COO but he earned his spot and paycheck via years of "grinding".

Personally I like games that take a long time and reward long term effort. Consoles need more of them and way less entitlement.
