ERROR There is no player with that name.

Elements001
So I haven't been able to send messages to most of my friends lately. Every time I do I get that error message that there is no player with that name. They can send me messages, I just can't send them messages. I think I figured out why possibly.

When I started playing ESOTU on Tuesday I chose the daggerfall covenant. After a couple days I noticed most of my friends were playing on the aldmeri dominion. I decided to make a new character in that alliance and that's when I noticed I couldn't send messages.

Now one of my friends just got ESOTU and he chose daggerfall covenant like I did. For whatever reason I can send him messages, but noody else on my friends list. It seems as though when I created my first account it linked all my messages to daggerfall covenant and now I am ONLY able to send messages to players in the daggerfall covenant.

I am in the aldmeri dominion right now and unable to send messages to anyone else in that alliance on my friends list. Only reason I can think I would get that message is if the game thinks I'm in an alliance I'm actually not in, therefore almost nobody else would technically exist when it comes to sending messages.

Same issue, but me and my friends are in the same Alliance Daggerfall, I can send to one but not the other 6, also happens with the other guys as well, we can all send to one but not each other the one person we can send to only just got the game, but we have had it since release. I have a support ticket out on the issue but appear to be getting copy paste replies that have nothing to do with issue itself. Very sad about this.

I had a similar issue where my buddy is in EP and I'm in AD. He sent me some gear but I couldn't even send a thank you as reply because it said gamertag didn't exist.

I was able fix this by going to my friends list (Xbox) and removing him, then adding him again. Next time I tried, it recognized him. Maybe the game is having trouble syncing friends lists.

By chance do these friends have a space in their name?

Xbox One •[New 6/15] Unable to send mail: We've seen reports that you sometimes cannot send or receive mail. This appears to be caused by spaces in a player's Xbox Gamertag. We're actively working on a fix for this.

That's in the known issues, although, if they don't have a space.. I'm not sure what to tell you :(

@Gravytrain86 It is also a known issue that the friends list don't sync right, here's an excerpt from the known issues thread
Friends list not is populating in-game: We’re aware that there’s an issue where your friends list from Xbox Live and the PlayStation Network is not properly populating in-game, and are working on a fix for this. We have two workarounds that you can try while we work on fixing the issue: •You can create a guild and invite your friends. This way, you can still easily group together, see when they’re online, send mail, etc. Note that you need to be at least level 10 to create a guild.
•You can try removing your friend completely from the Xbox One or PlayStation 4 friends list, then re-adding them through the ESOTU UI.
•In the event you’re having trouble grouping with friends due to this issue, go to Menu – Social – Group – Invite Player, then enter the respective Xbox Gamertag or PSN ID.

The whole server is screwy. Friends not showing up on Friend list in game. No option to trade with people. Try to send mail with attachments... player not found. I can go to my Guild where that same person is a member and listed... and select the player's name to send a mail... and still player not found.

Hey guys, not sure if anyone answered this somewhere else or not but I had this same problem. My wife had no spaces in the gamertag, and we are both in Aldmeri Dominion. Finally I looked to see if she was on my friends list and clicked "Send Mail" but it still didn't work. Then I went back to the friends list and clicked "View Gamercard." After doing that, the mail sent just fine. Maybe give that a shot? Like it reminds the game that yes, they do exist. Lol

I can confirm that JohnJK04's solution DOES work.

I had been trying to send my girlfriend some items via mail system - she had no spaces in her name, we are both the same alliance and I tried when she was both online and offline - but never had any success.

So, I went through my guild, selected her character, clicked "View Gamercard" then tried sending her mail after doing this and it worked perfectly!

Thank you John. Hope this helps others!

This also worked for me. However my friend does have spaces in his gamertag.

I tried to send mail. Failed No such name exists etc etc.
Went into Guild Roster>View gamercard. Then back to mail, the same mail was still there ready/waiting to be sent. Tried sending. Success.

Not able to send a single mail. I am receiving, but keep getting same error when I try to send. Which means I can't send them items. I have to catch them in-game to trade. None of the workarounds are successful. My recipient was added as a friend through eso, then through xbox later. We are also in the same guild. Even when we are grouped, it won't send.
