Why do 90% of lootable provisioner items contain drink components?

I'm not interested in crafting ANY drink components and yet it seems that 90% or more of all lootable items containing provisioner components are always drink components.

I realize there are food specific baskets and containers and even the odd loose garlic, radishes and carrots, etc.
But it seems provisioner items looted out and about are HEAVILY weighted toward drinks.

What's the deal?!?

They're trying to make people want to use drinks by making them so plentiful.

Of course, it's not working. People still aren't generally using drinks over food.

In truth, the value of drinks depends on what you are doing. Drinks are more useful in drawn out fights than Food is.

It probably all depends on how you build your character. But I prefer to buff up on food as I have enough Regen.

When I PvP I bring a stack of each and switch depending on whether I need sustain or burst the most.

I searched and found this old thread because I had the same question. It seems to me though that if both are useful then both should be equally available in containers. I can find a dozen kegs of various drinks for every plate of food and rarely find any food items in any containers. Why can't drink components be in barrels and food in crates?

I know some prefer drink in long battles but every time I have tried it I die because my regen isn't fast enough. What I need is a deep well of health or magic or both. Maybe later, when my characters are better buffed, drinks will make more sense but right now I can't even do provisioning writs because I can't find the recipes and I can't find the food items much less survive in the wild without some food to sustain me and a drink of ale doesn't help.

Your talking about the World Items that are on tables and such throughout the game? Those White Foods and Drinks are inferior to any crafted items and are really just in the world to make it not feel static. I don't even think we could loot those items when the game first came out. Sure, they are a source of cheap food and drink, but your much better off making something, especially if you can make Blue recipes at least, if not Purples.

Ingredients I don't pay to close of attention to when looting, I just know I tend to get an equal distribution across all 50 ingredients (with the exception of the two Purple Ingredients) from all my sources (looting and writ reward containers). I would say that drink ingredients tend to have more instances in the world than food ingredients, but not by much.
