Can't "use" collectibles?

I got a collectible drop from a dwarven spider (whirring dynamo) but I am not able to "use" it. I have seen other forum answers saying you must use it for it to be added to your achievements. Has this changed on console (I am on xbox one)? Or am I somehow missing something? My only options in my inventory are to destroy it. Thank you for your help

Check your achievements inside your journal in game. Open up the achievements and it lists all the collectibles needed. If that collectible is checked off you are good to go.

Yeah, on console should be automatic. Lots of people, including myself, was not aware of this when console was released.

Hi HipThug.

I'm fairly sure that you can't use it and that once you have it you have the particular achievement associated with it.
you can just sell or destroy it

I dont think this is always the case. On console, there is no 'use' feature, it supposed to be automatically credited but it doesnt. Im still have inert egg and some other one I cant remember in my inventory waiting for them to fix this.
Worst part is I cant even bank them, so I had to just carry them around taking up inventory space.

But they remain in inventory. Can they be destroyed after to free space and still count?

If you haven't collected it yet, use and it will vanish while it gets added to cour collection. If it doesn't, check the journal, more likely then not you already got that one. You can use your bank to send the collectible to an alt who can still use it (though I hear they will change that soon?), or you can simply sell the sucker to free up space. Kinda wish you'd get something more from repeat finds of collectibles though then just a pittance of gold...
