Got scammed........why are people such scumbags?

I attempted to sell 49 daedra hearts to a player a few days ago. I have been trying to report it in game since it happened but I keep getting a message that says unable to send, please try again later. First of all, any player that does this should have their IP address immediately banned, no exceptions. Second, what now? Am I screwed out of the 36,750 coins? It really blows that there is people like this in the world. I guess someone could argue that it's my fault technically for letting it happen, but he was so freakin fast....please tell me what the next step is. I just figured out I could send a report through the website which I just did before I posted this. Hopefully this gets taken care of, I worked hard for that money.

Sorry to hear this happened to you, and thats it seems to be happening more and more. I remember when I was on console I would hear scams taking place on fairly regular basis (both this type and the bite type). I hope they do something to fix this soon, but in the meantime if you havent already, maybe check out this thread for some ideas-

This is why i always tell people to do trades slowly, check everything 10 times and if possible use C.O.D it's the best anti-scam trade system in the game

Out of interest, how does the in game trading work? I ask because I haven't used it and the only in-game trading game I've played in recent years was Borderlands 2. Where both parties had to press the trade button before any items were sent or received. You had more than enough time to pull out if the other person was messing around.

I take it once you put an item into the ESO trade screen and finalize it, the other person can just cut and run?
