About Holiday Events within Tamriel.

This was originally going to be a reply in another thread about the upcoming seasonal twist on future crown store items, but instead it morphed into its own thread.

So, many people that have played previous MMOs might have enjoyed those seasonal events that reflect our own real ones. I'm personally glad that they existed within the previous MMOs that I have played and loved the holiday events and the way the developers would go about integrating them into game.

However, TES is so thick with lore that it's almost against the rules to include the outside world in this game. But instead of complaining back and forth about it; I'll ask a question that maybe we can discuss and offer different ways to properly implement a form of seasonal events into the game.
  • Does Tamriel have their own holiday events? And if so, what do they entail and at what time(s) of year?
Saying this, ESOs setting in time where we are in a constant war time scenario with Molag Bal and the 3 Alliances fighting on into eternity. I say eternity because are we actually stuck in time? We have days and nights but there is no in game clock that I'm aware of, and probably for good reason because with a clock people would probably speculate as to what happens when it eventually reaches this time and that time and to prevent that the clock would probably be so slow that days and nights would have to reflect our real world. Days and Nights reflecting our real world might sound nice initially but it would quickly dawn on people that it's not as nice as thought it would be. I kinda went slightly off track with this paragraph and explained something about why there's no in game clock, lol. But anyway...

The paragraph above sort of brings me to a point in that we don't need an in-game time for seasonal events, but we can pick seasonal events within Tamriel Lore that would match our real world time of year. If there are any that is.

I hope I made this clear enough to understand. I was going to remove that middle paragraph but decided to leave it in for some form of insight, even if you ignore the middle paragraph and it's probably best you do, lol. As long as we can find proper answers to the question.

Thanks for reading!

It does. Here you are. There's actually a harvest holiday today (Feast of the Tiger). I will note that some of those don't exist in the time frame of ESO (EX: Broken Diamonds).

I'm just gonna quote what I said in another thread:

    • Morning Star 1st - New Life Festival in celebration of a new year. With the tradition of free ale at all the taverns.
    • Sun's Dawn 16th - Heart's Day is a holiday celebrated all over Tamriel. It seems that in every house, the Legend of the Lovers is being sung for the younger generation. In honor, the inns offer a free room for visitors.
    • Rain's Hand 28th - Be warned that during Jester's Day, pranks are set up from one end of town to the other.
    • Last Seed 21st - Appreciation Day is an ancient holiday of thanksgiving for a bountiful harvest. It is considered a holy and contemplative day.
    • Frostfall 13th - This day is known throughout Tamriel as the Witches' Festival when the forces of sorcery and religion clash. Demonologists, conjurors, lamias, warlocks, and thaumaturgists meet in the wilderness and the creatures created or summoned there may plague Tamriel for eons.
    • Evening Star 25th - Saturalia was originally a holiday for a long forgotten god of debauchery, it has become a time of gift giving, parties, and parading.
    • Evening Star 31st - On the last day of the year Tamriel celebrates the holiday called Old Life. Many go to the temples to reflect on their past. When ale flows free in all the taverns in all the cities of Tamriel.
    • And much more...
TES already has its own holidays, and even though some are related to RL holidays, they are not the same. Saturalia does NOT have "Saturalia Trees" NOR a "Saint Claude" that gives presents to naughty adventurers. The Witches' Festival has NOTHING to do with pumpkins. Also, most of these Tamrielic Holidays have different dates from those in our world.
So there's no need to add RL events to ESO, it would only ruin Lore/Immersion. The last thing we need is people with pumpkins on their heads and an elderly bearded Breton named Claude flying around in an enchanted carriage.
Here's the full list of Tamrielic Holidays.

It'd be nice if sometime in the future they decided to do some of those Tamrielic events through out the year. Some of them sound fun to work into the game.

Yes it be nice to have special event related to TES holidays but IRL ones no. Not only does it shatter TES lore it would cause so much problems with some players own personal beliefs such as this example say ESO did a christmas for christan players but not a hunika or quanza or what ever events happen in decemeber. Like I'm sure some jewish players be offended that ESO celebrated chritmas but not hunika.

So yes to lore friendly events but not IRL ones point of a video game is to get away from reality not bring IRL problems to video games.

    Sorry for the spelling errors.
