Lightning Damage decent for a sorcerer?

I'm thinking of rolling a new Breton Sorcerer. Should I be sing flame damage or does lightning damage do a decent amount of DPS too?

For pve i'd roll with a fire because it's easier to dps with it as you can medium weave.

But in pvp a lot of people go with light because the lightning staff heavy attack can't be reflected by dk's, also people light weave with it in pvp.

Every once in a while I try a Lightening Staff on my Sorcerer. I go back to Fire because of Weaving. However if you take into a account everything about the 3 staffs, they are fairly well balanced overall as far as damage goes. So, it all depends on your build and playstyle as to which one you use. Some people like the crowd control aspect of the Flame or Frost, some like the Lightening for the mob effects.

What I would do is as your leveling, try the different staffs you get as drops and see what one works best for the way you play.

And also check the patch notes for imperial city on PTS... there are several changes coming to the different staff damage types, and also the way they work on a couple of the abilities.

IN pvp lightning staff is nice as its a channle like soul strike so you cant shield it

Weaving is using another move to cancel the animation of a previous move without actually canceling the move.

So lets say you cast a spell that takes 1 sec to cast, you can then "weave" a light attack (just as example) to cut that first spells time to .5 seconds.

You just need to be careful you don't do the second move too soon some times as you'll cancel the first move.

Just fyi blocking is the highest priority and can cancel anything.

Go with lightning. Fire staff gets fixed in 2 weeks, then all 3 elements are more in line and more equal.
Sorcerer gets a 5% damage bonus with lightning, this is reasonable and lightning staff light attacks are much easier and faster to weave than fire staff medium attacks.

Which doesn't mean, fire is not good. Fire is just as good and still has damage benefits compared to lightning and can outdps lightning against certain enemies. Choose your favorite element

I use Frost or Fire on my single target bar so I can weave medium attacks, but I use Shock on my AOE bar because of the Concussion effect (reduces mob damage by ~12%) and for the Disintegration procs.
