I choose not to wear pants on my female character...it is worth the loss in armor.
The armor in this game looks so ugly and ***...most of the time I choose not to even wear it....
It is like the ONLY game where you cant dress your female up a bit sexy...I hate it.
Where is all this sort of ***? This game rated C for children or something?
If you are on PC, couldn't you use Wykkyd's Outfitter to make an "in town" set that doesn't include the greaves?
Have my toons have casual outfits that penalize armor quite a bit.

I play on PS4. A buddy of mine said the PC and PS4 versions are very different from eachother and alot of things are missing. He plays both. I bought him the PS4 version for his birthday last week.

You can wear any armor as any race. You can either ask someone to make them for you, or make them yourself.
You need to get a copy of the Racial Motifs: Argonian book and invest a few points in the Clothier skill tree.
Currently, Argonian-medium guards are the only items in game that show any thigh, and that only goes up to level 24. After that, everything are full pants (except for Primal, which ends at the knee). You could upgrade them with tempers (blue, purple or gold) to make them a higher armor value.
Pictured are the items at level 14 (less garters) and level 24 (more garters), which might help you decide if it's even worth it.
Yeah, it means you need to get your skill up in Woodworking and put skill points in that area to craft them. The one you have is quite rare but when you come across blue motifs you should be able to craft that armour right away. So if you find a blue 'Orc' motif you can craft any level Orc armour and weapons

I think its for Dwemer Bows. Does that mean I need it specifically for Woodworking since its associated with bows?
It is "any" and not specifically woodworking. It's referring to your rank in the appropriate passive for that skill, though, not your level in the skill. So you might have clothier at level 10 (for example), but because it requires rank 9 in the passive (for clothing the appropriate passive is Tailoring, while for blacksmithing the appropriate passive is Metalworking, and for woodworking the appropriate passive is Woodworking Skill) you won't be able to use it, as you need to be clothier level 40 in order to put your 9th skill point into the Tailoring passive to be at rank IX.DigitalHitmann wrote: »Yeah, it means you need to get your skill up in Woodworking and put skill points in that area to craft them. I have quite a few Motifs I have found, cant remember all the names of them other than the Dwemer Bow on. Thanks for clearing that up for me. I was wondering why I couldnt use it because I believe the flavor text says "any" and doesnt specifically state Woodworking. Now I know atleast.

The level the motif requires doesn't refer to your crafting level (1-50). The level refers to the passive abilities (tailoring, woodworking, or metalworking) that let you use certain materials (1-9). Any blue motif can be crafted with one point put into any of the passive abilities. The more rare ones (purple and gold) required a higher amount of points put into them.
So, for example, you have a motif that says it requires level 9 and you want to some heavy armor (blacksmithing). That means you need to put 9 points into metalworking. To be able to put those points into metalworking, you need to raise your blacksmithing level to open up higher levels of metalworking.

I have a certain look that I want my character to have that, so far atleast, I can only achieve by not wearing greaves which gives me a huge penalty to over all armor rating as well as any affixes tied to that piece of armor. I dont think I should be penalized for wanting my character to look a certain way, much like others who dont want their helms to show.
Obviously this is my first week playing the game, so I dont really know the in's and out's yet. Is it possible to achieve this without such a huge penalty in the end game? Or do I have to wait for a costume to be effective.
Im kind of going to the "Xena" look, if anyone was wondering. (Everyone whose 25-40 should know who Xena is...)

If your character doesn't wear any greaves, then why should your character benefit from such? From a roleplaying point of view, I don't see why you should gain bonuses from an item you don't wear.
