Suggestion: Toggle View Greaves On/Off

DigitalHitmann
I dont know if this has been brought up before or not, but I would like to see the option of Toggle Greaves on and off be added to the options menu such as Toggle Helm on and off. I have a certain look that I want my character to have that, so far atleast, I can only achieve by not wearing greaves which gives me a huge penalty to over all armor rating as well as any affixes tied to that piece of armor. I dont think I should be penalized for wanting my character to look a certain way, much like others who dont want their helms to show.

Obviously this is my first week playing the game, so I dont really know the in's and out's yet. Is it possible to achieve this without such a huge penalty in the end game? Or do I have to wait for a costume to be effective.

Im kind of going to the "Xena" look, if anyone was wondering. (Everyone whose 25-40 should know who Xena is...)

I see this as a classic "careful what you wish for." For every person with a cool RP or design idea like yours, there will be a thousand pasty-pale naked bottoms dancing by the Riften way shrine.

Actually, that sounds like situation: no change. But you see where I'm going. If they made it optional to display each type of armour, then this awesome game would quickly become Happy Naked Time Adventure Hour (TM).

What if it was a toggle that only you could see? Like editing a texture file from other multiplayer titles on PC. Only you see the edit, no one else does. Except for console it would have to be implemented differently.

Look at me, I'm Peter Pan-tsless!

lol in all seriousness, I'd kind of like it if there was a toggle to show or not show each armour piece. The only ones I'd be likely to use are helmet (which already has a toggle) and shoulders, and even then only on a couple of my characters, but I don't see any reason why it shouldn't be available for each piece.

A male player asking for the ability to make his female toon semi-naked ?

    now that's novel
Everyone knows the phenomenon of trying to hold your breath underwater - how at first it's alright and you can handle it, and then as it gets closer and closer to the time when you must breathe, how urgent the need becomes, the lust and the hunger to breathe. And then the panic sets in when you begin to think that you won't be able to breathe - and finally, when you take in air and the anxiety subsides...that's what it's like to be a vampire and need blood.

I'm arguing that toggle helm has a utility in the game. It lets you distinguish your character amongst a sea of similarly clad characters in game. Toggling other armor pieces is purely aesthetic, and really serves no other utility function. I say the devs fix the bigger issues first, and player who want to hide gloves and shoulders and everything else can find another outfit to wear for now.

So, no ones over the age of 30 or hasnt seen Xena before...? Dont really understand the backlash, but hey, to each their own...

Truth. While there is some degree of customization to other body parts (tattoos, scars, etc) they are not as personalized or customizable.

So, no ones over the age of 30 or hasnt seen Xena before...?

36 years old. Loved Xena. Love not playing a game populated by a million dancing naked dark elves more. Your idea about implementing toggles for your view only has merit and is worth exploring, though where it shakes out in the grand scheme of things priority- wise, who knows.

If you dont wear that armor you get squished, harmed, injured. That's what's armor's for.

Instead of toggle on / off, why dont the enemy get a miss chance percentage the less armor you wear, the more. Thats what helped Xena and other scantly clad lassies survive no?

Disregarding the whole "skin showing contest" factor, I'd like epaulets of the the warlock that DON'T fload above my shoulders (or at least a way to disable them from showing). BTW nice Xena lookalike.

I'd prefer if you could do it for any equipable armor, really. Like LOTRO and AoC have :) I was looking to make a warrior princess outfit too, but couldn't. We don't even have skirts, and the only light-armor bottoms that are actually a skirt is the daedric style :(
  • DigitalHitmann
To be honest with you guys, I thought that's how helm toggle worked already for personal use only. I turned mine off as soon as I started playing though so I dont really notice other people and I get I havent played long enough yet to know if Medium and Light are actually "helms" rather than bands or hats.

Point still remains id like to be able to turn my greaves off, even if its to myself only. As someone stated above it would be nice to turn any part off, but I agree that this shouldnt be a priority at this time, thats why its a suggestion to begin with.

Thinking like that is a waste of time. Too much "reality" makes for a lousy "fantasy" game.

Well, if I could get it as that I would gladly buy it.

I saw a female player in another thread about what people would spend their crowns on and she wanted some really risque garbs that were already part of the game as enemies as a costume, so there really is two sides to the same coin. I can understand why some people are strongly opposed to it, but like someone previously said, this is a "fantasy" game after all..

I choose not to wear pants on my female character...it is worth the loss in armor.

The armor in this game looks so ugly and ***...most of the time I choose not to even wear it....

It is like the ONLY game where you cant dress your female up a bit sexy...I hate it.

Where is all this sort of ***? This game rated C for children or something?

Never....it is a staple in gaming....

Sure you can have that option.....but I also want the option to dress to look good and sexy, or downright filthy girl option.

No greaves = arrow in the knee. Then you'll have to spend your adventuring days as a guard.

Anyway, if the toggle happens it happens, costumes would be better but I prefer my gal toon to be fully clothed to prevent such disabling injuries.
