The results of the forum should be in favor of a text chat crowd by means of a forum only poll because, that's is the comfort way for those who want the feature to communicate.

The conclusions being made that Thise against having text chat don't have answers to certain comments or arguments in the thread.

Some don't care what you think this they comment and move on. Some want to be apart of the discussion but later understand their ideas aren't welcomed. Some have no desire to be involved in any arguments but just scroll down and read but keep their opinions to themselves.

And there now 4-5 different threads going on at once.
It's gonna become more and more difficult to communicate what it is you all hope to accomplish with multiple threads or the hijacking of threads inserting this idea in when a thread is about something different.

Ask around in the actually game and people will tell you that priority number one is stabilizing the current build of the game not adding new bug magnets into the mix.

The whole topic is about adding text chat.... and that is "the tune" we are singing. Each day new people come on here and are supporting this topic. It's just the same 3 nay sayers that come on here and pretend everyone else is off topic and eluding the situation. Lol its quite old to be honest.

Many people have posted videos and gave examples of how having voice chat only, hinders the game and how text chat will solve many of those issues. And let's be completely honest here the excuses against adding text chat have been comical. "The devs can't code it right" "consoles aren't made for texting" " text chat will lag the game" ect. While we have examples that prove those excuses be false.

The point I'm trying to help you and others realize is that those actions and comments/posts aren't moving the topic to get the results that you desire. It comes off from my participation and others that you're unwilling to take a different approach. There are a lot of arguments, insults and a lot of name shaming and linking of examples from recordings that no one in the thread has permissions to post on this site.

In my personal observation...this is causing you all frustrations as you continue to ask for a ZOS response.

Maybe it's time for a different approach

ZOS doesn't need to be convinced...they may be open to new ideas of how to resolve those reasons you all are presenting in other ways.

ZoS hasn't made an announcement about this topic. You are trying to get people to change a direction when it is not needed. You are jumping ahead way too far. With all these threads about text chat they have not made a sound. So until they make a statement concerning this topic people will not change their tone. And even then people most likely won't change their approach either. So what I am suggesting to you is stop trying to guide the conversation in the direction you want it to, because it is not needed nor wanted, and this was expressed to you several times by different people.

I'm not interested in arguing...if your perspective is that the two ESO Live prior episodes in my sig did not address this topic then that's your opinion...

Respectfully, this thread keeps sinking to page 5 because the developers have shown no interest in giving absolutely any feedback as to if any kind of text anything will be added, is being considered to add, or even just a "no, we won't ever". Nothing. People are straight giving up on it, stop caring entirely due to the developer's lack of care (because if the developers refuse to care about even responding to customers in either pro or against, why should customers care about the game?), and quit the game as a result. That's what happened to me.

I still check these forums daily though, to see if the devs will ever say anything in regards to this beyond what they said insanely vaguely quite a while ago on ESO Live. I just want to know what they'll do. Either add it, don't, or give a "text chat like" thing that was vaguely hinted at in the ESO Live thing, just tell us something. ANYTHING.

however I would like to see damage numbers appear over my enemy
and also a place you can view available guilds to join and about them.

Please don't get into a fight with each other, this is not about who is right and who's wrong, nor it is about who's winning and who's loosing. There is pros and there is cons, every single person has the right to share his opinion, that doesn't mean yours is in "danger" if someone disagree with you.

Some players need or want some sort of a text chat (better than quick chat), that is a fact, redundant or not. Not adding it to the game won't make them use VC if they can't or do not want to use it for some reason anyway. That's me, I just can't use it, this is stressing the hell out of me, please understand that I can't help it but I have zero problem with texting and would love to have a proper way to communicate with other players (I don't care about trading, I have guild stores for that: guilds I joined thanks to these forums). Besides, I like to play and enjoy the game's sounds, listen to the NPCs, with no distractions because I am role playing in my head and don't want to be brought back to reallity by unwanted non immersive noises from other players, it is also the way I like to play and that's not everyone's for sure. ^^

Note that "some players" doesn't mean the majority, who can truly know what the majority thinks? Some are happy and just play, some don't use forums even though they're unhappy with some issues, some just don't care, some play ESO as a single player MMO and don't care about communication at all, etc. The only thing we do know, is that on this very poll, more players voted yes than no, that's all. Is that the majority speaking, there is no way for us player to know exactly, right?

Also, I understand that some of us are not very happy about the idea of a text chat coming, they made good points too. I don't want gold sellers, spamming and text walls as well. I don't even like floating texts, dammaged numbers... that's just data I don't need, but some others like these and I can live with it, especially when I have the option to turn it off.

Besides, you can come across idiots in VC too as it's been said before, just like on text chat. And I know voice chat can be cool and is faster for group contents, in emergency situations and especially in PvP. I am glad that those using VC can enjoy the game fully, but can I and can some others who do like ESO too? It's not like we're asking for the removal of Voice Chat and I don't want to have it on my screen all the time too, I want to be able to hide it when I don't need it if that comes as a text box, but I'll be happy to have something else too, as long as it doesn't force me to go on a second screen, that is not the point as we can already go to forums and send messages through the console system...

This may not be priority number one, but are the bags on horses that game breaking? And ZOS is adding a toggle option for it, so... In the end, that's ZOS call anyway. I speak for myself only, as I can't use voice chat, I'd like to have an other way to properly communicate IN game, a way that do not force anyone to use it or see it if they don't want it or don't need it. Just like we can turn off voice chat if we don't need it, can't use it or don't like it.

I'm a "gal" too, and the primary reason I stopped playing ESO on Xbox entirely was due to constantly getting harassed by guys in game due to me being a "gamer girl" and being completely unable to block them to stop hearing them. Before my main reason for wanting text chat was my thick accent when I talk, but ultimately that was not as bad as I thought. This problem of being harassed literally every 15 minutes by incredibly disturbing and terrifying guys while being unable to block them is just not forgivable.

Seriously, that was 100% completely irrelevant to say that. I've been called guy/dude/etc before numerous times on these forums, but unless there's actually a reason to clarify that, it's pointless to say. It only really is done to call attention to oneself in the manner you did it.

I'm a "gal" too, and the primary reason I stopped playing ESO on Xbox entirely was due to constantly getting harassed by guys in game due to me being a "gamer girl" and being completely unable to block them to stop hearing them. Before my main reason for wanting text chat was my thick accent when I talk, but ultimately that was not as bad as I thought. This problem of being harassed literally every 15 minutes by incredibly disturbing and terrifying guys while being unable to block them is just not forgivable.

Perhaps we should agree to disagree. This entire topic is opinion based. Trying to assign right or wrong to opinion is the biggest mistake pro text folks make, IMO.

Smurf and I are actually helping by steering the conversation from the gutter and into functional, possible alternatives and in doing so bring attention to the issue.

Respectfully, this thread keeps sinking to page 5 because there's no actual interest in formulaic HUD clutter text chat.

Steering the conversation into options that people may be open to and are feasible from a technical standpoint seems helpful.

I really don't get the hostility.

Also earlier you were trying to be cute with the "half are just PC players " and I called you out on the math that even if that is true only on the yes side then it's still overwhelmingly yes.

I'm a "gal" too, and the primary reason I stopped playing ESO on Xbox entirely was due to constantly getting harassed by guys in game due to me being a "gamer girl" and being completely unable to block them to stop hearing them. Before my main reason for wanting text chat was my thick accent when I talk, but ultimately that was not as bad as I thought. This problem of being harassed literally every 15 minutes by incredibly disturbing and terrifying guys while being unable to block them is just not forgivable.

Seriously, that was 100% completely irrelevant to say that. I've been called guy/dude/etc before numerous times on these forums, but unless there's actually a reason to clarify that, it's pointless to say. It only really is done to call attention to oneself in the manner you did it.

Yes

I think what we all want is options in how to communicate and engage with other players in this game.
I am more comfortable with text chat and feel I can reach a greater number of people with it. I tried voice chat and it's okay in certain situations, or if I am comfortable with the person I am talking to.
In general, I think text chat is a basic and necessary form of communication in an MMORPG.
Again, options is all we want.

There was more of us but they get argumentative, refuse to even think they may be incorrect and then started on name calling etc ..

Probably why many don't bother to respond to them, funny thing is one of the earlier guys made a thread about how ESO had become Toxic and they were the reason I gave up trying to get across to them that no, not everyone thinks the way they do lol

I met a young teen on ESO(PS4 N/A) tonight, and he was new.

He was located in area chat at Davonswatch by the popular blacksmith in the south east corner.

He was level 8 and asking a ton of questions in area chat.

Me and this other guy ended up answering his questions and guiding him for a few moments and then I added him to a group and helped him some more.

I feel like, if I didn't say something of use to the kid, someone would of trolled him.
He was no more than 13 or 14 probably and as overwhelming and confusing as your first MMO can be already, I didn't feel like he should be troll bait.

I want this game to flourish and I think it's our duty as experienced players that we are, to show new players in the game the kindness and courtesy we all want and have received before when we were once new.
Until text chat is implemented, this is what we can do.

We can lead by example and hopefully flush out the bored inconsiderate weezles in this game.

I ended up buying him a horse and showing him a few things too.
I added him to the guild I am in, and they brought him in with open arms.
You could tell he was thankful, excited and more comfortable with playing in just the 20 - 25 minutes I spent with him.

It makes me wonder, how many new young players whom are interested in such a massive game, get over runned from some jerks because of their confusion/innocence?.
My least likely intention is for new people to quit over something so childish, but it still happens.

Let's take a stand and physically do something until we get our text chat.

Would text chat of helped this player? Who knows! But he definitely wouldn't be as easy of a target for/when bad things to/can go wrong.
Furthermore, I hope he stays with ESO and got to see the good in the core objective of MMO players, which is to help each other out.

What's in it for you? Nothing. Which is exactly the kind of mindset we need to be focused on.

We're all in this together.

Deffo need chat now.
It's hard to co-ordinate multiple groups in pvp, people are split up all over the place and we can't talk to them out of proximity.

Groups - great for voice chat in dungeons, but most people use ps4 partty chats now, or guild voice chat and refuse to talk to strangers, which in turn just makes dungeons bloody boring.

Getting harder and harder to aquire a good trader, so some people are left without any means to sell any items, be so easier to simply text "selling crafted sets, message me"

Simply not being able to say "need 1 healer for daily"

It's just some real annoying simple stuff that needs to be added as an option for people who wish to use text chat.
The people i have spoken to in game are astounded there is no text chat, that's when the group finder actually works.

To everyone that voted no I implore you to check out and play Warframe on Xbox One. In the first hour of gameplay see if you are invited to an active personilised guild, taken to some higher level areas that you wouldn't normally get to visit or pass til much later, get in touch with an amazing community happy to help you out and then try to do the same on ESO for console. ESO is a cold, dark and lonely experience if you don't have anyone you know from the real world playing it. The only interactions I've had with people in ESO is a couple of dances here and there or people scamming me or asking for free things.

We need text chat! For gods sakes I finished cad wells gold a month ago and I still can't find a group for Craglorn! If we had text chat a community would truly form not this sad excuse for a forum where every time a new player asks a question the five star supremacy tells them their thread is a waste of time and that their opinions are worthless (this happens daily). Text chat for console will give us consolers a community of our own and keep us playing longer!
