Many people have posted videos and gave examples of how having voice chat only, hinders the game and how text chat will solve many of those issues. And let's be completely honest here the excuses against adding text chat have been comical. "The devs can't code it right" "consoles aren't made for texting" " text chat will lag the game" ect. Please show me how war frame and final fantasy are using the exact same engine as ESO?

Different game engines mean different challenges, I know its easy to demand something that another game has should be added but it does demonstrate a fundamental lack of knowlege in the programming process.

Plus, the p r guy talking after gamescon said as much.

My personal view is that the money should go to developing new content. New content = new player, IMO.

Your arguments are getting weaker as time goes on. Text chat is on its way to consoles. There is no way around it. So if I were you I would invest in a keyboard.

No. If you are in a party, the party has an option for a long running text chat, and you get notified each time the conversation is bumped. Its actually very handy.

Yes

Overwhelming yes. I've been an MMO veteran for 16 years and know the value of a good text chat system. With voice chat only you are very restricted in communication. In crowded areas it is near impossible to hear anyone if too many people are talking over each other. Also if you leave the room you lose out on any information that would have been on a text chat log otherwise. Voice chat has its place and that is in dungeons where text chat is not feasible.

The point I'm trying to help you and others realize is that those actions and comments/posts aren't moving the topic to get the results that you desire. It comes off from my participation and others that you're unwilling to take a different approach. There are a lot of arguments, insults and a lot of name shaming and linking of examples from recordings that no one in the thread has permissions to post on this site.

In my personal observation...this is causing you all frustrations as you continue to ask for a ZOS response.

Maybe it's time for a different approach

ZOS doesn't need to be convinced...they may be open to new ideas of how to resolve those reasons you all are presenting in other ways.

If after the issues that are being presented are resolved in other means then it may provide an opportunity to discuss text chat with a different tone.

In pointing out issues that you guys hope to resolve with text chat, you're also identifying issues that will take priority over your idea to have text chat.

Really, what would it do for the game, especially on consoles. While I understand the novelty of it for consoles, it naturally work on a PC because they come with a keyboard as part of their basic operations.

ZoS hasn't made an announcement about this topic. You are trying to get people to change a direction when it is not needed. You are jumping ahead way too far. With all these threads about text chat they have not made a sound. So until they make a statement concerning this topic people will not change their tone. And even then people most likely won't change their approach either. So what I am suggesting to you is stop trying to guide the conversation in the direction you want it to, because it is not needed nor wanted, and this was expressed to you several times by different people.

Onto of that you seem to have missed the major point myself and others have made several times in this thread. So let me try this with you again....

Zos made their decision before to not add text chat, we understand their reasoning... and don't agree with it.... Soooo people have made topics as a rebuttal to their reasoning, now just like in any conversation we are waiting for the response for the person our statements were directed at.... Zos has not made a response to this topic, but has been rather silent.... Are you following this?

So until they make a response to this topic, people will not and should not change their direction. And that is the reason why you are clashing with everyone. You are asking them to do something that is not needed or warranted. Maybe after their decision is made on their part , then people could use a change of pace... but until then it is not needed.

The point I'm trying to help you and others realize is that those actions and comments/posts aren't moving the topic to get the results that you desire. It comes off from my participation and others that you're unwilling to take a different approach. There are a lot of arguments, insults and a lot of name shaming and linking of examples from recordings that no one in the thread has permissions to post on this site.

In my personal observation...this is causing you all frustrations as you continue to ask for a ZOS response.

Maybe it's time for a different approach

ZOS doesn't need to be convinced...they may be open to new ideas of how to resolve those reasons you all are presenting in other ways.

With all these threads about text chat they have not made a sound. So until they make a statement concerning this topic people will not change their tone. We need to use this group to help problem solve into a solution that answers both parties needs, not just appease the one niche group with a niche solution.

I understand you are frustrated by the devs silence on the issue but we all read something different from that silence.

Although the 'text chat is not coming' crowd has the silence and that disc we all bought as evidence, sooo.

You could also take the devs words for it in an earlier ESO live.

I'm sorry you don't agree but the facts on the ground suggest this is a lost cause, IMO.

Besides my no vote was for text chat not to be implemented in the IC patch as that is too soon to get it right.
If they are going to add text chat they need to do it right not rush it in, and yes the code will be different as
the UI is built different.

YES! PLEASE!!! I'm begging you!!! Why can't you put something so simple in the game when so many people want it? This would literally make such a huge difference in the game and it can't be that hard to implement. I mean neverwinter has it and that's a free game! I paid $60 and still pay for ESO plus and extra stuff from crown store. You guys are more than capable of adding this. Why are you holding this back so much? Just a simple answer as to why would be great! Stop dragging us along on a leash! Either say it is never coming so we can get over it and move on or say your working on it. Give us something!

ZoS locking threads is not a response to the subject....

The tone of these topics has always been "we need text chat because voice chat isn't enough" and people then gave their reasoning why.

Only you want it to go in another direction for whatever reason. And once again many people in this thread, not just myself have told you that the direction you are trying to take is not wanted or needed... and it's perfectly reasonable for people to feel they deserve a response on such a big matter as this here. There have been many other topics that zos addressed imediately with a response such as " this is something we will consider" "that feature is coming soon" ect. So explain why we shouldn't expect a response from them... especially when this is a concern for many people in this game?

Moderators who lock threads have nothing todo with zos beyond they can point zos to look at threads. A thread being locked has nothing todo with zos.

Ah nice , I see the same two are working together as usual to try and antagonize others. Learning to block and totally ignore the wonder twins who think they know it all makes it much more reasonable here.

Again not calling any names ,no naming and shaming here , if its obvious who I'm talking about then it must be because there's really only a very , very , VERY few people that are anti text , and two in particular that like to act like they are moderators who tell others what they should talk about. No names being called by me , no sir , but this thread is x1000 better with never having to look at their drivel i will say.

My "pro tip" , is use the ignore feature the forums have built it. Works wonders.

On subject , no alternative needs to be settled for , the videos coming out daily , really hourly now on youtube are getting more and more attention as to the horrifying state of voice only chat. I've seen them linked and talked about on other gaming forums now and 99% of the reaction is

"Holy *** thats terrible for anyone to have to listen to"

"How does anyone stand that"

"I cant believe they dont have text chat"

So yeah , Zenimax is losing their control in keeping it under wraps just how pathetic current communication is on the consoles.

Moderators who lock threads have nothing todo with zos beyond they can point zos to look at threads. A thread being locked has nothing todo with zos.

Actually a prior thread hasbeen locked for review by ZOsspecific to this topic of discussion in April and May so there are other reasons by ZOS to why they lock three it's not just for conduct

Yes

I do notice that the anti-text ones skillfully avoid remarking on the fact that MANY , MANY videos are now showing up on youtube showing racist , sexist , vulgar , and downright annoying screams and music being blasted through area chat.

Till now folks have been able to say how golden and perfect area chat is , now that proof is being shown of how bad it OFTEN is , silence on those posts I see.

Respectfully why would ZOS want to add to this by introducing another medium?
To help your argument for text chat, let's not add this to the discussion as it doesn't help the argument it hurts it.

Intentionally not tagging or quoting anyone.
Odd that we've moved to name shaming and video shaming console folks but a few things ...

The conclusions being made that there are more and more ppl on the forums therefore the idea is something the majority desire.

Actually people who prefer to talk, talk. Ppl who prefer to type, type.
The results of the forum should be in favor of a text chat crowd by means of a forum only poll because, that's is the comfort way for those who want the feature to communicate.

The conclusions being made that Thise against having text chat don't have answers to certain comments or arguments in the thread.

Some don't care what you think this they comment and move on. Some want to be apart of the discussion but later understand their ideas aren't welcomed. Some have no desire to be involved in any arguments but just scroll down and read but keep their opinions to themselves.

And there now 4-5 different threads going on at once.
It's gonna become more and more difficult to communicate what it is you all hope to accomplish with multiple threads or the hijacking of threads inserting this idea in when a thread is about something different.

The whole topic is about adding text chat.... and that is "the tune" we are singing. Each day new people come on here and are supporting this topic. It's just the same 3 nay sayers that come on here and pretend everyone else is off topic and eluding the situation. Lol its quite old to be honest.

Many people have posted videos and gave examples of how having voice chat only, hinders the game and how text chat will solve many of those issues. And let's be completely honest here the excuses against adding text chat have been comical. "The devs can't code it right" "consoles aren't made for texting" " text chat will lag the game" ect. While we have examples that prove those excuses be false.

The point I'm trying to help you and others realize is that those actions and comments/posts aren't moving the topic to get the results that you desire. It comes off from my participation and others that you're unwilling to take a different approach. There are a lot of arguments, insults and a lot of name shaming and linking of examples from recordings that no one in the thread has permissions to post on this site.

In my personal observation...this is causing you all frustrations as you continue to ask for a ZOS response.

Maybe it's time for a different approach

ZOS doesn't need to be convinced...they may be open to new ideas of how to resolve those reasons you all are presenting in other ways.

ZoS hasn't made an announcement about this topic. You are trying to get people to change a direction when it is not needed. You are jumping ahead way too far. With all these threads about text chat they have not made a sound. So until they make a statement concerning this topic people will not change their tone. And even then people most likely won't change their approach either. So what I am suggesting to you is stop trying to guide the conversation in the direction you want it to, because it is not needed nor wanted, and this was expressed to you several times by different people.

I'm not interested in arguing...if your perspective is that the two ESO Live prior episodes in my sig did not address this topic then that's your opinion...

Moderators who lock threads have nothing todo with zos beyond they can point zos to look at threads. A thread being locked has nothing todo with zos.

Actually a prior thread hasbeen locked for review by ZOsspecific to this topic of discussion in April and May so there are other reasons by ZOS to why they lock three it's not just for conduct
