Seriously, just report him and ignore his posts. Most of us have been doing it the last few days or weeks even..... I have to admit, the devs do listen to reason, if not to the forums. Thank you for "nameplates", a welcome addition to immersion, as well as the text chat box for PS4, which only comes on the screen when I need it too, and helps this gameplay SO MUCH MORE then without it. I mean I don't want to say anything rash but... you must be doing it wrong. I've done nothing but roll with various guilds and meet new people and guild mates to further the pool of people that I do stuff with and call upon. I've now found a perfect home with many active friendly players, male and female. Everyone gets on and we do nothing but group activities (dungs/pvp etc).
More often than not, even when soloing or grinding we are in guild chat or group chat just have a laugh. For me, it's the only time it felt single player is the first few days where I was alone. But that was great to quietly learn the game and get into it.

Its one of my few complains about the game,it just removes much of the social aspects of the game,it makes everything feel empty and its so hard finding a group,I am tired,i am playing eso less becouse of this. By talking about this i have mostly been met by downvotes,silly arguments like "console players dont like to type" and people telling me to go back to pc.
Those people could not be more wrong,i have sent and gotten more messages in eso then any game on xbox,and in Eso you got to first stand close to the player,then hold start,then choose view gamercard,then you have to wait a couple seconds,then finally choose send message! Alot of people are doing it so what makes people think console players will be against text chat?
Why not have text chat so we dont have to go through all those things? Its so annoying,how could ZoS not see that this was a bad design?
There is nothing wrong with voice chat,but having only voice chat is not enough in a MMO, not having text chat just makes everything more difficult,i cant type lfg so everyone in the zone can read,i cant advertise my guild,i cant chat with many people,cant do all the great stuff we could do if we had text chat,
Instead i need to yell lfg in voice chat and be met by people telling me to shut up or people making fun of my accent,crying babies,dogs barking,people figthing,someone chewing etc.
I have heard people say that text chat would ruin their immersion but they couldnt be more wrong,seriously why cant we have both text chat and voice? And no i wont go back to pc,i want to help zos improve the console versions.
Zos,what about people who cant hear? What about people who cant speak english to well but can read and type better? What about people who just dont feel like talking? What about people who are mostly in party chat?
Zos,I love this game,i just think its such a shame that you are ignoring this problem,why make the console version inferiour on purpose? Please listen to your paying customers,we just want to make the game better.

Well, if you miss what the person said and have no idea that is was said, it isn't very documented for the client. With text, you can go backwards in time, and with voice, you can't do anything.
Also, your entire opinion is based upon the fact that you and nearly only you believe it is fun and good and has nothing to do with practicality. It is totally impractical to have 50+ people within a given area, and have them all talk in the area chat because you will never know who's who and some people will never have a chance in saying something unless they scream louder than others. I don't know how many times I've heard people asking another, if they are talking as "x" gamer tag. And who knows why you don't want it but that is why we've proposed an idea which is mutually beneficial to minimize screen clutter by allowing the text chat to be completely disabled. That way, you don't need to gain any benefit from having a text chat and being able to speak to whoever, whenever, without trying to guess who's who.
Also, people are more willing to speak in text chat. I just joined a guild and the leader was talking to himself for an entire hour because no one wants to use their microphone. Oh and don't forget that now some guilds force others to use their microphone which only causes more hatred amongst themselves. This also causes an elitist attitude to come forth and many new players will just give up, as there are no other chat options, because they find that part of the community to be horrid.
I agree that voice chat is good for groups (small, 4-5 players) but make it larger than that and it causes many problems.
And by the way, go find me a big public trading center in the game with at least 10 people trying to sell something at once.

YesI usually have my mic muted 90% of the time due to the fact that I have 3 screaming children when they play. Being courteous, I never turn on my mic so I won't annoy anyone else, as some people fail to do in area chat. So when I need a group, there is no way for me top communicate at all. This hinders me quite a bit.1

The whole topic is about adding text chat.... and that is "the tune" we are singing. Each day new people come on here and are supporting this topic. It's just the same 3 nay sayers that come on here and pretend everyone else is off topic and eluding the situation. Lol its quite old to be honest.
Many people have posted videos and gave examples of how having voice chat only, hinders the game and how text chat will solve many of those issues. And let's be completely honest here the excuses against adding text chat have been comical. "The devs can't code it right" "consoles aren't made for texting" " text chat will lag the game" ect. While we have examples that prove those excuses be false.

I would like to see revenue poured into new content and stabilizing current systems, such as PvP.

The PR guy doesn't directly say text chat but he admits some PC functions are larger technical challenges to move over than they seem.
This is indicative of zos' current direction, IMO.

The other million console players are happily playing and making friends. Trading is not really a problem once you join am guild with a guild store.

Really, what would it do for the game, especially on consoles. While I understand the novelty of it for consoles, it naturally work on a PC because they come with a keyboard as part of their basic operations.
I also don't care when thinking along the other lines because I also don't think it would have any negative effect on the game if they were to add it in for the consoles.
However; one thing I definitely have to disagree with is a train of thought I read in another one of these threads, or a thread similar in nature.
Someone had voiced their opinion that if the game doesn't have text chat options, then it isn't a "real" MMO... I apologize to anyone that I might offend, but that opinion is based on ignorance. It shouldn't have to be said but; an MMO is made up of infinitely more complex and wonderful features than just being able to spam gold-farming services in a little box in the lower-left corner of your screen...
I try to stay away from these threads as they generally devolve into a morass if name-calling and infighting, but I couldn't hold out anymore.

I have the same problem
Its in your psn settings. Devices. Audio input. Just ease it back so that it only activates when you speak at full volume.
It should help with the ambient noise.

Its faster and more effective.

Use the mic and say hi.

This is indicative of zos' current direction, IMO.

He is just making up stuff. Zenimax already made text chat. Its on pc.... they do not lack the capabilities as this guy 8s suggesting.

I don't think telling people they aren't Allowed to comment is a way to create a fair discussion.
I have suggested alternatives to the screen cluttering and lag inducing text chat.
A second screen solution would be my favorite.
But having discovered psn has an app that facilitates text chat without any server lag or revenue taken from actual content I really don't see how people are still here asking for a game system that is COMPLETELY redundant.

Really, what would it do for the game, especially on consoles. While I understand the novelty of it for consoles, it naturally work on a PC because they come with a keyboard as part of their basic operations.

The whole topic is about adding text chat.... and that is "the tune" we are singing. Each day new people come on here and are supporting this topic. It's just the same 3 nay sayers that come on here and pretend everyone else is off topic and eluding the situation. Lol its quite old to be honest.
Many people have posted videos and gave examples of how having voice chat only, hinders the game and how text chat will solve many of those issues. And let's be completely honest here the excuses against adding text chat have been comical. "The devs can't code it right" "consoles aren't made for texting" " text chat will lag the game" ect. While we have examples that prove those excuses be false.
Please show me how war frame and final fantasy are using the exact same engine as ESO?
Im sorry if I didn't come right out and shoot down your examples sooner.
Different game engines mean different challenges, I know its easy to demand something that another game has should be added but it does demonstrate a fundamental lack of knowlege in the programming process.
Plus, the p r guy talking after gamescon said as much.

No. If you are in a party, the party has an option for a long running text chat, and you get notified each time the conversation is bumped. Its actually very handy.
I'm sure you already knew that, though.
