simple solution -leaves area chat and goes to another area- problem solved!

So you guys just don't want your text chat, you are attacking voice chat.
Turn off area voice chat FFS.
I actually play the game and other than some annoying music once in a while don't have problems.
Report abuse grow a pair and move on.
It is proximity chat so once you have done your business move on to another area.
I could post screenshots of horrendous behavior in text chat but don't because I am not trying to get it removed.
Have you guys ever played a game like GTAV Online? No difference with user with mics.
True the behavior can be despicable but that is the internet and even the trend in public places these days.
Can't have thin skin and be online.

You compared The Elder Scrolls to GTAV? The idea that the Elder Scrolls experience should be in anyway comparable to the likes of GTA or any similar type of game is at the root of the problem, IMO.

No , I played other MMORPG's on the console with decent communities. Not GTA. GTA I expect to be a kiddie cess pool and would never touch it. ESO I bet has a much better community it's just that with voice area chat it only takes a small percentage of racist idiots to ruin it. I want a way to communicate with the folks around me , how can I do that currently without hearing the idiots ?

You are the incorrect one to assume ALL communities are like this.

agreed. the same kids that play cod screaming and being a little hellish goblin will pick up eso or any other game that their friends are playing and be the same trolls there as they are here. but that isn't limited to kids either. it will happen regardless of game if its online

I was wondering if voice only on consoles was going to be a huge flop. It looks like the answer is no, it was released like that and you all still bought it!

$$$$ -> ZoS = Wish ZoS was a publicly traded company, my stock would be going up.

I highly doubt someone just came out and berated you out of the blue over voice coms.

I get cursed at, screamed at, and verbally assaulted in Area Chat. There's people out there who commit suicide for less than the BS I put up with on a daily basis in ESO, and Letty me tell you something, I could be in the middle of a sale, or asking if anyone is selling recipes and guys just jump me, cussing screaming doing everything in their ability to try and make me cry. So next time you ever say, 'What were you doing to get insulted? ' you should look at these buffet picture and not act like a jerk.

This is sad but so true. If you go into a town with much activity, let's take for example Mournhold, the EP city in Deshaan where the undaunted daily quest givers are. There is so many people there looking for groups for daily dungeons, trading, as well as those who are there to level up, it's very rare that you don't see 4 different people's names light up atthe same time.

Some people think the game belongs to them. They feel like the area chat is theirs, and if you happen to talk at the same time, get ready to be insulted. They will jump to your throat. They don't care if you're looking for a tank to do veteran Elden Hollow, all they care about is the fact that you talked over them while they're trying to sell that oh so precious gold motif...

Text chat won't solve all the problems, and it probably won't entirely solve this one, because voice will still be default and there will always be people who feel the game is theirs and you playing is only getting in their way...

This is one of the saddest facts about the new generation of MMORPG gamers. All they think about is themselves. Back when mmorpgs were heavily about cooperation, this was much less an issue. Now it's all about "I'm better than you" while back then it was "we'll work together and get through this", which, to me, is what any RPG should be all about.

Back on topic though, Text chat, while it won't entirely remove this type of behaviour, normally comes with in-game ignore lists. I think everybody can agree that the block features on consoles are not even close to be enough for mmorpgs. an in-game ignore feature for the voice chat could solve this problem as well, but won't solve all the problems that text would solve. That, on the other hand, has quite a few threads aleready about it so i'm going to leave it at that for this one.

The lack of very basic features in this game is disheartening.

When I get an eso itch and log on I literally think " this game ****ING sucks". And it's not the gameplay that makes this gane suck, questing and leveling is fun, the lack of social features is what makes it garbage. I can't communicate with my guild most of the time, I can't mute annoying people, I can't group up to do dungeons without waitING close to an hour shouting "does any one want to do a dungeon" 1000x before just giving up onnit.

The console version is garbage. Crap man we don't even have a combat log, I can't see my damage and healing numbers, all basic stuff the console version is lacking. This game feels like a very bad single player rpg.

Fix this **** zos.
