Vet 9... Is it too late to start alchemy?

Surely getting hold of the low level water will be a problem?

I'd have to farm rather than picking things up while questing.

Also, how many skill points would it require realistically to level and then make the best potions?

I've mixed the other 5 and maxed skill points. So I'm low on combat ones as it is.

Alchemy is probably the fastest profession to level in eso.

You can either farm some low level waters or just go and buy some in guild stores. You'll need about 250 of two different plants you can combine, then start crafting, always put skill points in "solvent proficiency" as soon as possible so you can use the next level solvent.

You'll need 6 skill points for solvent proficiency, 3 for medicinal use (not really needed for the crafting itself, but a passive everyone should consider getting), 3 for chemistry, 1 for laboratory use, so 13 (10) skillpoints in total.

    It's not a problem.

I picked it up at Vr 6. Browsed the shops for low level solvents. Then spent about half an hour in a lvl 40-ish area which has a lot of streams to collect water. Alchemy is very swift to level.

Maxed out alchemy in about a two days.

Need about 16-ish skill points. I picked up even the keen eye, because it's more difficult to find enough flowers than water itself.

    It's never too late!

Just think of the health/magica/stam tripots that are better than anything you can buy in the crown shop! :)

Are there two certain flowers best to look for?

Common ones which are compatible ideally

Also do the alchemy writ after getting certified. You get both inspiration (exp for the craft) as well as exp for leveling up and gold, plus ingredients and sometimes a survey.

This is why I want to do it. Someone guy in the bank wanted to buy Argenntum. Someone's going to sell him 10 for 3k and he was ok with it. So I said I'd just five it him as I had some. He wouldn't take it for free but I didn't want money. So he gave me 10 vet 1 tripods. Helped loads in dungeons. So I'd love to be able to craft even better.

Columbine, bugloss, mountain flower - check the traders, these go for a lot of gold. Much better to harvest your own. They make the health/magica/stam potions.

Most of the other ones have niche uses, such as increasing weapon or spell power, invisibility, detection, etc.

Google for the alchemy spreadsheet (sorry, don't have a link).

If I were you, I wouldn't use any columbine, bugloss or mountain flower for levelling. That would be such a waste. For levelling I usually combine Dragonthorn and Blessed Thistles (they are fairly common and a lot cheaper than columbine etc) moreover you get the same amount of experience when only using two plants, not three, so don't waste stuff for levelling ;)

You also get a nice chunk of xp when discovering the different effects on plants, so you might want to discover all of them.

The reference chart at the bottom is what I used after I farmed a bunch of different plants. Huge timesaver for me.
