Is there an addon that prevents you from breaking down items?

I keep accidentally selling or breaking down items I don't want to. They just get lost in the mass of other items. I know if I sell them, i can buy them back, but if you break them down they are gone for ever.

Is there an addon out there that makes it so you can mark items in some way to prevent them from being sold or breaking them down?

FCO ItemSaver. You do have to mark the items with what you want to do with them.

Research Assistant is another one that marks items you need for research. You can designate different crafters to keep track off too. But, as long as the crafter you designated does not know the trait, it marks them for you in Red. Yellow if you have more than one and one is more expensive or was improved more.

    Don't research without it.

Oh, BTW, another one to get for Research is AI Research Grid. It lets you see each crafter, what they are researching and how long they have left, and what they need to learn. This one is great if you have one crafter making things for another one to learn or your shopping for your crafter on another alt.

The new version of Craftstore will also mark items but it's not doing so consistently at the moment, so I'm still using Research Asistant. Craftstore does show you all the traits on one page and has a 12/24 hour timer though. I'd been using AI Research Grid while it was gone and I'm keeping it in reserve just in case.

Craft Store was my favorite crafting mod, and I was sad to see it's development put on hold. I am glad it's back, but the inconsistency concerns me. I do remember just before it went dormant that the research needed markers were not always accurate. Which is one reason why I also ran Research Assistant.

I use an add-on that never fails: a pair of eyes and a brain that recognises what the hands are about to do and stops them doing it.

It may be that in order to work properly I have to go to crafting stations and look in research first so that it can scan it but that seems unlikely. I think it might have a minor problem reading specific character crafting data. My original Main is now my full Trait, sans Nirnonhed, Specialist and it's possible that there's a trait reading issue in the addon. The only way for them to tell if it's not working properly is for someone to report the bug.

Item saver is useful if you go through your inventory before crafting. Meaning if you don't mark it as saved, it won't be effective.

Research Assistant is incredibly helpful if you're worried about deconstructing something with a trait you haven't learned. If you're trying to save an item for other reasons, item saver is the best bet.

The issue is the addon changed some thing that had to do with who it was tracking as your Crafter. Some how, in one of the last versions, it would default to who ever you logged in with as the Crafter. If you logged to an Alt, then it would make them the crafter. Or maybe it was just the first one you logged in with. Just verifying who your crafter is would keep the research items straightened out. I could not remember to do this, so this is why I stopped using it before the 9th trait came out.

I was hoping it would have been fixed this time around, but maybe it did not. It could also have been a setting with the addon to have it try to track who your crafters are, rather than you just telling it who the crafters are.

Or, it could be another problem all together.

Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

if you use FCO ItemSaver instead of ItemSaver you can enable the automatic marking of researchable items (found by help of the addon Research Assistant) in the settings. This way the researchable stuff (and other stuff like intricate items, items selling with more money, etc.) will be marked autoamtically.

You are able to filter the items at each crafting station and marked items won't be deconstructable/refineable etc.
An error message will prevent you from doing this.

*Chuckles* It's true. I use the same one.

Whilst funny it is actually relevant too; for all it takes is a bit of focus and effort to get use to the game system and after a little bit you'll learn not to rush and deconstruct items you don't want to. I think we've all done it at some point in time: deconstructed something we didn't want to, but that's how we best learn, by making mistakes.

    easy don't deconstruct anything
Everyone knows the phenomenon of trying to hold your breath underwater - how at first it's alright and you can handle it, and then as it gets closer and closer to the time when you must breathe, how urgent the need becomes, the lust and the hunger to breathe. And then the panic sets in when you begin to think that you won't be able to breathe - and finally, when you take in air and the anxiety subsides...that's what it's like to be a vampire and need blood.

Wykkyds Suite is useful to me. Anything that I have marked on one of my gear sets has a flag, so I dont decon it.
Power level to CP160 in a week:
Where is the end game? You just played it.
Why don't I have 300+ skill points? Because you skipped content along the way.
    Where is new content? Sigh.
