Outlevelling the content - XP - Will it even out later on?

I decided to start a new character. From my main I brought along about 40ish champion points, and I am also an ESO subscriber.

Merely doing the quests in the starter region, and did the Fungal Grotto about 2-3 times (I like running dungeons). Now, as I have finished the starting region, I am about 5 levels higher than the game's content making everything trivial. Having a too easy game makes questing for me tedious, because I find no challange, just wading through the content. Might be because of the champion points, or simply the class-build combo I picked, but the content already is easy, even when I am the same level as the enemies.

Any similar experiences? Will the xp gain later on smoothen out? Any chance the region content will catch up with me? (via fewer xp if I am higher than the content, dunno).

This always happens with me, but i don't mind as i just don't bother doing side quests until it slightly evens out and it goes a lot quicker.

its that way since the game is released - you are allways overlevled below lvl 50. (i have been 5-6 lvls ahead of the content all the time on all my chars.)

unless you skip content - no.

No, but once you are 5 levels above stuff you stop getting XP for mobs, so it slows it down a bit.

M'kay. I hope so. While most of the players have a problem with too slow levelling, I have the problem with the two swift levelling. Funny, is it not?

But seriously I'd struggle with each encounter to win the battles than mow through the game like a Superman.

I generally end up skipping 2/5 zones in starting faction except for the primary questline. This usually lands me in CH at 43 or 44 which takes me to 50.

VR zones require full clears if you're only questing. You can pick and chose in starting faction.

Made it to the Meridia/Molag Bal confrontation after getting thru Coldharbor at Level 28 with my DK.... Then had to grind to 45 to get the mission to fight the "End Boss' ;-)

Presently this DK has just started Cadwell's Gold at VR1. Plan to continue pushing faction story only... If I finish VR3-4 can go back and do silver and gold sides at full XP :-)

I will second staying under the +6 level threshold or diminishing returns will stall progress.

I've been doing every quest in every area as I go. Almost done with the 5th area and at level 45. I've done no grinding, no PvP, and only done each delve once. I even run past a good number of the mobs out in the world unless they are guarding a chest or node. Have been at least 3+ levels over all of the content since I was about 20% of the way through the first zone. I have zero CP. I never use food

Not sure about vet levels but at least the 1-50 area you will quickly out level the content unless you avoid the side quests and run past most of the mobs. I've been trying to take my time and enjoy the story (which is decent for the most part) but everything except the instanced "group dungeons" has been really easy to solo. If I do die it is usually my own fault because I've gotten lazy since everything is so easy.

It evens out. I am an ESO+ subber as well and I generally skip some of the lesser quests in a zone and still outlevel content merely by doing the main zone quests (for skill points) and a handful of side quests. A good bet is to ignore Main Story and Guild quests until V1. Evens out the normal levels a tad and nets just under a half of a V1 exp bar. I am usually still one VR level over content for vet zones, but that's not as noticeable since VR mobs are a bit tougher relatively. ESO+ can seem like a pain at 1-50, but it is really useful for Silver and Gold for sure.

yes it will even out when you hit Vets again, which will once again be a grind.

its because you no longer start off on tutorial island so they had to make starting zones level 1-25 or whatever

so when you get the mission to go to both those tutorial islands you are like level 7-8 when you finally start the main starter zone so you are already over leveled and it just keeps building up until like everyone said you get to cadwells silver and gold where you really much only gain 1 VR level per zone. unless you go crazy and grind a crap ton each zone :P

Yeah, with each and every character that I have, by the time I hit the last faction zone before Coldharbour I always end up doing some quests where I'm over-leveled to the point of getting no XP and drops from any of the mobs I fight. Once you get past the first couple of areas West of the Hollow City in Coldharbour, though (the areas where the mobs are level 44), you don't need to worry about it as much, because then unless you go back to areas you've already been through you'll always be getting some XP and drops from everything as you go.

That doesn't necessarily mean that it evens out, though. On one character I hit VR14 with 2 full zones left to do in Cadwell's Gold, as well as all of Craglorn (that includes doing a bunch of PVE in Cyrodiil, though). On another character I'm currently at VR11 (3/4 of the way to VR12) and just started the 3rd zone of Cadwell's Gold. I expect to hit VR14 on that character with about 1.5 zones left to do in Gold, plus Craglorn.

So yeah, if you're a completionist and do everything, along with killing just about every mob you come across (for example: I almost never use a disguise in a quest, instead I just kill everyone who looks at me funny), you're going to be over-leveled and you're going to stay over-leveled. Once you're VR1 and doing Cadwell's Silver and Cadwell's Gold, though, it doesn't really matter.
