Can you Dye weapons?

Hi there.

I was playing ESO and I noticed a player had a red sword. I was wondering is it possible to dye a sword a different colour?

Thanks

No, but they do change color slightly with higher levels. For example, a level 10 iron sword will have a bit of a different color than a level 8 iron sword. Also, applied enchantments may have an effect on color, though I'm not entirely sure.

    Not -yet-

They said they are working on maybe adding that at some point... since especially shields could use some dye options to match it to peples armor.

But at this point, the weapon color depends on material, and quality. Different materials (iron, steel, orichalcic steel, dwemer, ebony, calcinium, galagite, quicksilver, voidstone) and different tempers (quality levels, white, green, blue, purple, gold) may influence the weapons appereance.

Close, but not quite. There used to be color differences for all gear at about the midpoint between tiers. I think this is still the case with weapons, but I honestly don't pay enough attention anymore.

Each quality level has it's own color scheme. This applies for weapons and armor. So, blue quality iron swords will have a gold crossguard and pommel, white and green will have a silver or black one. Though, I forget which way it goes off hand.

One of the most striking progressions is Ancient Elf swords. At white the blade will be white (as I recall), at green it will be a dull light green. At blue it progresses to a pale, almost stahlrim like, blue. At purple it will revert to a deeper green, and at gold it will be a very deep, though not particularly dark, green. It's been awhile since I actually looked at the weapons at all stages though, so take that list with a grain of salt or two.

Also, your weapon's color will change with the materials.

For most motifs, the weapons will change visually with each material tier. So Iron Daedric weapons will look different from Dwarven Daedric weapons. There's four tiers of this, so Dwarven and higher will always have the final visual appearance for that motif. After that, the only thing that changes are some of the colors. With most motifs, that will be the blade's or head's colors. With wooden weapons, the material grade will affect the color of the exposed wood.

Enchantments do not affect color at all.

Unfortunately, with weapons, you're kinda stuck. You can't get an out of tier visual appearance, so if you, say, like tier 1 medium bosmer... once you hit level 16, it's gone, basically. You also can't change the colors of your weapons, except by upgrading and hoping you like the new color scheme more.
