I want to destroy people.

I don't care what class I play. Whether is DK, Templar, NB, Sorc - whatever.

All I care about is the ability to inflict maximum destruction on people and survive. I don't mind if it's through straight up tankiness while unloading on people, or sniping and executing, whatever. I will fit MYSELF into the playstyle, not the playstyle to me.

Give me your opinions on what is the most potent PvP class that best suits across all areas of PvP, from 1v1, to group combat, to random 1vX multiple fights out in a PvP zone. I want the one that will perform the best across all of these.

The build that gets the most posts in support of it in this thread is what I'll make.

Lay it on me, people.

This isn't like other mmos man. It is total yup to your play style. Seriously.

Great Dks can tank and kill 3-4 in a battle of endurance.

A great sorc can kill those same 3-4 one by one as they chase

A great Templar can kill 3-4 with 2 falling at the same time and the third and forth almost dead.

A great Nightblade can kill 3 of the 4 before the 4 even realizes what's going on.

It's complete up to your prefered play style. If you know what that is, pick that class and the learn to play.

I'm confused, there isn't really a class that can do all of that, it's on or the other, if you could do all that the game would he massively broken.

Say you want a full stam khajit Nb, great burst damage etc, using snipe and ambush running around ganking people, but the second someone survives your burst you are dead, or if anyone catches you out, you are dead. There's no way to get massive survivability and do massive damage.

Same as tanks, can sit there all day and self heal / block, but you won't really be killing anything.

As others have said there isn't really a one class rules all here. There are FOTM builds which are king for a while then get beaten down by balance changes.

Any of the classes can be good 1vX you just need to learn to play it and the style which works for you. Additionally you need play skill to back up everything in this game. It's fine asking for a build which dominates all, however if you don't understand the basics of PvP in the game you'll die every time.

    Sounds like solid advice.

Knowing what you know now as an experienced player, where would you start? What resources should I read in order to get an understanding of the basics, so that I can make an informed decision on what race and class composition I should choose?

Go read up on the classes, look at the skills, how they play etc..., then look at some guides (make sure there 1.6 guides) and builds and decide what race/ character you want from that.

Also i'd go read the 1.7 patch notes as theres a lot of changed coming in about a month and you should make sure they don't affect your chosen character too much.

Also, have a root around Tamriel Foundry.

There's some good, very detailed theory crafting builds there to cater for pretty much everyone:

Also, have a look at http://elderscrollsonline.wiki.fextralife.com/

Very good for researching the Glyphs,Weapon sets, etc
