Sorc Magicka Build for Engine Guardian

LowOnTheTrack
Hey guys. So our group has done pretty well with Gold Key Vet dungeons (new group of vet ranks 1-4) with completing about 4 dungeons so far with the achievement. We stumbled across a roadblock with the Enginer Guardian in Darkshade Caverns. I would like to know if there are any useful tips for our group and if anyone can recommend a good build for this fight for Magicka Sorc? I've tried using Atronoch on the fight so that he can shoot the fire circles on to him, and also using some pets so that we can get more damage on him. The problem we are having is we are spending too much time away from the boss and not getting enough dps because we are either 1) moving away from lightning phase (can't get close to him right?) 2) Fighting adds (do we need better AOE? I am thinking about using Overload AOE on this, also these mobs hurt us really bad) or 3) getting grouped up and out of range during poison fight (should we be closer to boss during this phase?)

Any suggestions and tips are welcome.

Engine Guardian isn't a DPS race, if you rush the fight, you will most likely fail unless with a good team. Take as much time as you need. If your group can't handle the adds or the fire, then DPS the boss only in poison mode. It might take 30 minutes but you'll get it done.

    A general strategy

Fire Phase: Have everyone put a DoT on the boss and run. Use this time to regen any lost resources and get ready for the next phase

Poison: Everyone get close to the boss, DPS the crap out of him while healer spams heals.

Lightning: Be as far away from the boss as possible. Have your tank pull all the Spheres, use single target attacks (only 3 adds spawn). Any "spare" ultimates should be used on these adds. Ricochet Wave hits for up to 20k.

During the fire phase and poison phase, you should be DPSing the entire time.

During the lightning phase, RUN TO THE OPPOSITE SIDE OF THE ROOM, and then kill the adds.

Simple fight. Rinse and repeat like ten times. There should be 3 DPS, 1 healer. All the DPS must be ranged. You should not be using a tank for the fight (not even for the adds).

Make sure to group adds with chains or such, save ultimate's for adds, meteor is good for this. Then just aoe them down as fast as possible,

The adds so ricochet wave which does 12k per xD watch out.

Fire is easy, isn't hard to dodge it, just follow the boos (out of range of its flamethrower) and just range dps it.

Psn is the best just have your healer out heal the psn and follow it (against behind it, always behind it) dpsing it.

When i was farming this boss we got it down to about 10 mins a run.

    That, basically.

You can dps during fire phase, if you're REALLY good you can even melee dps during fire phase(i know like whole 2 people who pulled that off...), but you have to be careful - avoiding red circles>dps. You most certainly should dps during poison stage, that's petty much safe time - just have healer spam Healing Springs on the run. It's important, some healers love spamming BoL for that, OOM and wipe the run. Far as ads go you can aoe or single target dps them but this has to be done fast and far away from the boss.

Far as sorc-specific tips go...well all sorc dps is ranged so no issues there; Storm Atro is pretty useless there because he's stationary, I use Overload on boss(also helps restore some magicka, I have magicka restoring morph, forget the name) and if group is having issues occasional Negate on ads. Meteor is also good for ads. If you keep dying use some sort of damage mitigation like Lightning Form or Hardened Ward.
