My armour gets damaged while in werewolf form, really?

I managed to keep my werewolf form a little longer than 30 seconds in a well populated area but even as the werewolf does not have armour my armour gets damaged while in battle and by the time I finished my wolf rampage, my armour was completely ruined. Why is that? Does the wolf form somehow absorb your armour or is there some kind of bug?

Your gear takes damage when you receive combat XP. Regardless of if you're wolfed out or not. Though, it's also starting to sound like the old gear deterioration bug is back.

I sometimes have my armor degrade while crafting. I always fix my armor when I get into town, and then do my crafting, then every once in a while, I need to do it again.

Yeah, yeah, yeah... armor gets damaged by XP gains. Even in werewolf form.

    Be happy about it!

Realistically, if you wolfed out, either your armor your get completely destroyed (and wouldn't that suck...), or it wouldn't - but strangle your doggie form to death (uhm, oops? ;) )...

Still... too much detoriation in too little time does indeed sound like a bug - test it a few times, see if its realyl that bad, or if you just forgot to repair your geat somewhen... if it is buggy, report it in game.

I like to think that the werewolf form absorbs the armor into the body, creating an armor like skeleton ala Wolverine.

Or that a werewolf is really just what a Khajiit looks like in a full blown roid rage.

I'll do more testing before its confirmed. Pity that even in wolf form your gear takes a pounding. It just doesn't make sense. I hate having to find merchants to repair my gear even though my character is a blacksmith.

Do you get the benefit from the armor when in WW form?

    (I don't have a WW so I honestly don't know.)

Wear-and-tear and benefit should be linked, either way.

As far as I know, no. I can get taken down by lower levels than my character if I'm not careful.

Really? I tend to get taken down easily if I'm not careful.

Werewolf has high damage burst, low survivability, that being said they are adding 10k armour and spell resistance while in form.

Nice! All they have to do now is either extend the timer or make it a toggle power.

You definitely do get benefit from armour in WW form. I've done some tests with equipping different gear, and also with equipping no gear, and going into WW form. The gear that you have equipped affects your weapon damage, your physical and spell resistance, and your stats depending on what enchants you have on it. I didn't do enough testing to work out if it's a straight one-for-one deal, or if there's some modifier.

I think adding more versatility to the character class is a great idea.

This was done to give tanks a break on the cost of armor repair. I think the method chosen was kind of silly. Why does my archer who never gets hit in a battle have their armor damaged? It could've been a passive on say the 'One Hand and Shield' skill line to reduce the cost of repairing gear but then some folks would have an alt that specializes in gear repair. So just chalk it up to the realities of trying to achieve game balance. It doesn't always make sense but in this case at least it has a reason for happening.

Back around 1.3, I did do some testing... but I can't remember the results.

Interestingly, about the only thing you don't get the benefit of is your weapon's enchantment. Your equipped weapon, armor, set bonus, armor enchants, and jewelry enchants all apply in wolf form. Though, again, I can't remember if they also get a scaled bonus or they just transfer across. I think it's the latter, or at least was, but it's been a long time.
