Some of you want TC, others don't .. so far ZoS doesn't seem to be to keen on it either.

Someone did give a good idea though of putting a Text Chat channel in Social, then you can text away when not fighting

Actually the ones who don't, have no good reason to. In fact there is every reason to put Text Chat in them, the only ones against text chat are ignorant and or trolling.

Too bad ZoS doesn't seem keen on the decision they're completely ignorant for doing so. If you looked at there excuse it's because they think we're too lazy and or stupid to use keyboards.

Typical answer..."everbody wanting textchat must be anti-social".

Did you even bother to read the rest of my post?

VOICE CHAT is not ready to do ALL THING that an MMORPG requires.

A car without tires can still be slept in.
Can still be a radio listening area.
Can still be a place to get out of the rain.

But, CURRENTLY an MMORPG without textchat is only HALF a game.

If this was on PC (As it is) it would be EXPECTED to have textchat.
    Because MMORPGS have it.

Why...all of a sudden...do the "rules" change because of "platform"?

Should ONLY PC have textchat...but not MAC?

    It just a gaming platform.

I'm only playing on PC; but think the console players should get the option to choose.

Beside, i want to share a story from my long history in playing MMORPGs: In one of the games I played for quite some time, we had a deaf woman in our raid. We could only communicate with her via text chat - which wasnt a problem, as it is standard for MMOs on PC to have it implemented.
Yes, it took some time to explain bosses in text to her, but we had the opportunity and she was happy being able to raid with us.

In ESO on consoles, deaf people are not only excluded from raiding, but from all communication with other players at this moment. I dont think this is good.

Certainly sounds like you are calling people wanting textchat anti-social since they "don't want to play with others"...even though they DO WANT TO...with textchat.

To answer the SECOND BOLD in your post...
If just plain old textchat was IN THE GAME...no need to go to thrid-party places to do what could then be done IN THE GAME.

To answer the THIRD BOLD in your post...
    I reapeat...you didn't read/respond to the whole concept...just the first line.

To answer tthe FOURTH BOLD in your post...
Yeah...PC Players ask for VOICE CHAT NOW...but they DO NOT ask for TEXTCHAT to be removed...they KNOW they NEED both.
Which is what Console Players deserve as well.

To answer the FIFTH BOLD in your post...
Why is it that you can disagree with me, and it is fine.
However, if anybody disagrees with you it is an "attack"?

And to the final bold in your post...
Perhaps you should "take some more time" as well...and get some real arguments and not just "I don't want it" as an answer.

I respect your opinion, even though I disagree, however.....
Why are you using third party apps as a tool to do your communication???? Do you not see that text chat AND voice chat in game integrates all of those methods into one? How is this more logical or less time consuming to FB your guild than to type to them in game? Makes no sense.
Why look at two or more screens when you can do it all on one? Makes no sense. Literally, zero.

And its just kind of hilarious that Zeni is against us selling other products/ideas, when clearly the only other products to communicate, are outside their game! lolololol

But regardless, I'm enjoying this game nonetheless and if text chat isn't implemented, fine, but atleast fix how we go about queuing for things. Waiting up to an hour or two for a possible match on a pub dungeon and then hopefully they're either willing to commit to it or try their best to finish it, is more of a chance than anything. Public dungeons should never feel this way, period.

Public dungeons shouldn't have to be avoided because of these things.

And like I've also said, I love my guilds, but I like meeting new people as well. And with voice chat, you just won't always get everyone's attention for certain things, and you won't with text chat either, but it definitely ups your chances, immensely.

It is also interesting to note that if someone has a different opinion the only rebuttal is insults like calling them trolls or
saying they have no valid points.

I never said I was against adding a text chat, it is just naive to demand the addition into the IC DLC which is basically complete.

Also why would you want to put the addition of text chat behind a paywall, you have to buy IC one way or another.
If they add it is should be in a general free core patch for all.

I think it's more naive to not have a release date of adding text chat in game or a real excuse to why it's not in game, in the first place. IMO.
And obviously, IMO atleast, the OP used the IC date because it's literally the only patch/dlc/game changer news we have, so why not?

I really hope that text chat will be added. Yesterday, I had to deal with a dog barking into someone's mic for an entire hour in a group dungeon. And as nergie shows us, the text chat bar is barely even visible in the PC version.

While I can imagine in NA voice chatting with people is not that big of a problem since you mostly have a common language, Europe is a mixing pot of languages, and most of the time the players I end up with usually not native speakers.
Usually english is choosen as a common ground for communication but when someone does not main the language, speaking it fluent, voice chatting is difficult.
Would we have a text chat, it offered some time to think over the couple words you want to put together, or more so, allows you to get a dictionary and translate what you didnt get. Usually though on voice its end up like that.
#Player 1: <Says something in english> (Usually either not native speaker, or one of the more difficult UK accents)
    #Player 2: "What?"
...rinse and repeat for 5x times, with nerveus laughters, and eventually switching off the mic.

At least on chat you can remedy some of the language problems, eventually increasing the game's fun for non-native speakers too. Stuff like coordinated PvP with random people and Pug dungeons become more fun.

You know what? This is exactly how I perfected my english. Well, I say perfected... when I speak in english I'm sure people can notice that it's not my first language, since I have an accent, not as big as some of my friends, but I do. The text chat in Diablo II and in Final Fantasy XI made me go from "has learned basic english from grade 3 to 10." to "Can write texts in english without anyone noticing that it's not my first language."

When I first started using voice chat (back on FFXI, with teamspeak) with english players, I couldn't understand more than half of what they said, but when they typed, everything was clear. There was always those funny moments like when I first heard the word "***" I was like: *** is a word in french, it translates as "shower" in english, so how is that an insult?! showerbag?!" until someone explained to me. (I know that the forum censored the words but I'm sure you know what I mean, If you don't, go translate shower in french and you'll see).

Text is a blessing for the second language. It's so much easier to understand. With voice, especially with people who talk fast, it's very hard for someone who is learning the language. You hear something like this:

Heyguyshow'sitgoing. We'regoingtofarmpopitemsinskyifsomeofyouwanttojoinin! (don't try to get the reference if you've never played FFXI, it's only an example).

And then you need to try and seperate the words in your head, but if there is 1 word that you don't know, it's not going to make any sense. And then If you didn't understand, you'll have to ask the guy to repeat, sometimes more than once.

ESO is seperated by regions, which FFXI wasn't, so it was very possible to be in a group with a guy from Australia, another from Great Britain, another from western Canada, and one from the south of the USA (let's say texas just to go with the extremes). All 4 speak english as first language, but to a stranger's ear, someone whose first language is not english, it gets extremely confusing. Talking with only 1 of them is not so bad, because you get used to his accent after a few minutes, but with everybody in the group having a different accent, you don't have time to adapt.

I love playing with english people. The french north american demographic is not very big. The biggest french guild I have has just a little over 400 members. And it tries to gather all of us...

So I can really see where you EU players are coming from. Language barriers must be horrible. French, English, German, Spanish, Finnish, Russian, and more... There is so many different languages reunited in a small portion of the world that voice only must be very frustrating.

The 2 MMORPGs I played the most are the 2 Final Fantasy MMOs. What they brought is "the auto-translate feature". They brought this first to bridge the gap between English and Japanese players, since we played on the same servers. When the game came out in europe, they added it in french and german, and I think in spanish as well.

What that feature did basically is that all of the important words, such as item names, zone names, job names and other parts of sentences such as "Hello" "Do you need it?", "Can I have it", "party", "Thank you", "please" "you're welcome" were part of the system, accessible with the tab key.

They were not even just used for translation. They also made chatting a lot quicker. Type "I'm" and hit tab a few times and it's like you typed "I'm sorry. I'm playing solo right now."

This is only one of the many reasons why text is vastly superior to voice.

I think guild based text chat window(would serve as a chat room under social within guild tab) chat bubbles and PM system(able to target a player, click message, and have a chat box pop up for instant messaging) would be a sweet compromise for both sides of the argument as none of what I mention would effect another player's screen, except for chat bubbles which isnt a big deal.

I direct the honourable member to the picture I posted a few posts back. Where is the screen clutter please if you want to have the text box hidden?
You give me a chat box ZOS and I'll start giving you my money again.

Does the text chat on PC require zos to employ moderators to keep it from becoming a cluttered mess or is it a free for all?

No idea. Ask them. At least it can be policed unlike the bilge you get through proximity chat.
