Spell damage cap?

Is there one? Mine is stuck at 1000 exactly and won't go up at all no matter what I do, my weapon damage is the same, stuck at 1000. Is this some kind of glitch?

No, there isn't.

Might be an UI bug, look if your tooltip from abilities change if you increase your spell or weapon damage.

are u non vet playing in cyrodil cuz in cyrodil ur stats are fixed if ur under lvl 50

Not that I know off and defenitly not at 1000 spell damage. I have 3129 on my v14 sorc for example.

Your weapon gives the base value to both spell and weapon damage.
If you increase your weapon level and/or quality your spell and weapon damage will increase.
You can further increase spell damage by minor and major sorcery buff (active) and set bonus from gear (passive) lile Torugs Pact crafted set.

Your spell damage isnt increased by increasing your magicka for example, although more magicka will also increase the damage of your spells. This is caused by the fact that a spell is powered by both spell damage and magicka in about a 1:9 ratio.

SD is based on the bonuses your gear sets give and also based on the weapon u use (damage stat of your weapon is your base spell damage).

Try upgrading your stuff with more SD bonuses (Torug set or whatever)
Upgrade your weapon (or even try another type of weapon, eg : 2H sword grant more SD than a same level staff).
if you're a sorc, your SD is also increased by the number of sorc spell you got slotted in your action bar.

i would count on a outdated Addon, with v14 and a simple sword you would allready have over 1k spelldmg no matter witch class/race you play

Must be a glitch, I put in a ticket, I even tried taking off my gear and it still didn't change. I'm at V7 on the ps4 so it can't be an add on problem. My spells definitely do less dmg if I take off my gear so it must be a ui problem. Will have to see what support says.
