Purchasing Crowns, Redirected To Steam

When I purchase Crowns on the Website, I get redirected to Steam.
From there, since I don't keep any funds on my Steam account, I get re-redirected to log into paypal.
Why don't I get the option of setting up a non-Steam payment on the website?
If it's of any relevance, I purchased the game on Steam.

I hope this doesn't become an issue if I need a "payment option" for account recovery (I noted that Steam wasn't on their list if my account got compromised and I needed the info for proof I'm the account holder/owner).
