[Console] What's with all the kids?

Anyone else here have the unfortunate experience of listening to kids on voice chat? Thanks to poor parenting, this 17+ game is riddled with 12 and 13 year olds. Normally I wouldn't have a problem with that - but the thing about kids is that a lot of them are constantly talking and the high pitched voice doesn't help. I've had to block quite a few in PVP after they refused to clear the chat when crown told them to. Why are they allowed to play when the game has a rating of mature?

Lmfao. That's like saying why do people drink before 21.

My parents always let me play any game or watch any movie, they were quite clear on my understanding that its all fake and fantasy.

Pfft! Please, everyone knows the age rating is completely ignored by most parents today (unfortunately for us)! An 11-year old can play GTA V, a 6-year old can play COD and pretty much any age can play things like halo, mass effect and the like so long as they can navigate the controller.

I think PC has more mature players. Perhaps it's time to ditch your crapbox and join the mastur race.

I've ran into a couple of really young kids while I was playing. While I don't care that their parents are letting them play (it's not the worst game they could be playing realistically), I just can't fathom as to why parents are letting them have a headset on and listening to chat. The absolute garbage said in area chat, while amusing to me most of the times, should not be something kids are exposed to. Especially when it gets creepy. If the kids were monitored, sure, whatever. Let them talk to people. But unmonitored chat? No way.

Kids don't bother me nearly as much as the racially charged language i hear in zone chat on xbox NA.

I thankfully haven't ran into that too much, but you are so right. I'd take kids over that any day.

Good point! It's not so much the fact that kids are playing which bothers me so much, it's the kids in voice chat. The fact that they're exposed to some foul language from other players is another good reason they shouldn't be on chat.

This is why I turn off area chat, in fact I wish there were an option to stop it from constantly connecting me every time I go to a new area (unless there already is and I've missed it), if I want to talk to someone I will message them or invite to a group

    Bingo.

I actually don't hear too many squeakers in area chat.

Mostly people blasting music or trying to sell things for outrageous prices.

kids have a right to play, I get that....

That said, I prefer a mature group, not just for the discussions, but for the tactics... and recognition of 80's movie references.

    "shall we play a game?"

Ugh, too bad I work 7AM - 4PM so I might 30minutes of kids not talking to their moms about cleaning their rooms or what they want for dinner...

People in general just need to mute their mic's. Either they got some janky cheap thing that just squeals.... Of course add heavy breathing, eating, talking randomly to people, yelling at their kids to get away that they are playing a game.
  • MerlinGambino
I play on Xbox one and have probably only heard about 3 squeakers in my time playing so far, I'm v4 also. Seems like the age range I've mostly come across is 18-25

It's a laugh to hear their parents screaming at them to turn that damn game off.

It's great knowing the fathers/mothers care so much for their kids eh? ;-)

The other day I logged on and people were talking in area chat. I thought, "I'm going to leave area chat on and listen, I might learn something new." 5 seconds later heavy metal blasts the area chat. "Well that was well tested."

12 is nothing, I heard this 7 year old talking to a khajiit player saying things like: "kitty!" "You're fat. I want to punch your belly in". It was mildly amusing and disturbing at the same time...even more so when I went AFK to use the bathroom to come back and his character was crouched at my orcs groin in an inappropriate WTF way.

I've heard some kids being annoying on purpose in area chat or getting yelled at by their mom. Mostly hear little kids asking for their parents attention and being ignored or yelled at because mommy/daddy is to busy playing ESO to play with their kid.

Definitely hear more BS in area chat than I do actual chatting. every once in a blue moon will you hear someone trying to sell/buy stuff. The open Mic on the Kenect is left on WAY too often by too many people. Many I think are clueless that we can even hear them

I don't discriminate. Not based on voice. I will judge or avoid a person based on their actions tho,

Some kids get really into this game and can be super helpful.

I played GTA and bf 4 before this and being a full grown adult, i found it very useful to have a gang of blood thirsty children attacking and defending me as I am no where near as twitchy as they are.

One of the younger members of my guild watches all of the build videos and relays that crunchy info back to a team to busy with other stuff to chase it themselves.

And let's not forget that full grown adults can often act like jerks as well.
