Suggestion for consoles : Lock to prevent deconstruction

After a while I had quite a couple of items stored in either bank or inventory for later research, or to gift it to someone. When deconstructing items after excessive adventuring, I often accidentally break down those I am trying to save.

Sometimes they are naught but white items with a special trait I want to research later when a slot is opened up, so these items casually fall victim to deconstructing process, forgetting which ones I am trying to save.

Only if there was an option for items to "Lock" which prevents accidental deconstruction or sale or equipping (happened that wanted to give a set item piece to someone and accidentally equipped it) . Some kind of protection for the item.

How about if you put it in the bank you don't see it on that sell page or deconstruction page? I was so annoyed when I found out they still pop up there, lost all of my armor and weapons

Best thing to do would be to create an alt character to act as a bank for all the items you want to keep for research, this is what I have done on PS4 in combination with using the Workbench App to track what research is complete, what items I have etc :)

The problem with that is that it makes more work for those with alts. Since I often put items in the bank for an alt to break down/research, I'd rather not have to go to the bank to withdraw the items, when I could just go to the workbench and get to work. :) Personal preference, I know, but some kind of lock/flag mechanism would be preferable.

I have broken down things on the PC too that I wanted to research.

Roll an Alt and have them hold the items for you. Also, not sure what platform your on, and if the console prices are still insane or not, but I stopped storing researchables when I learned I could buy the traited item at a Guild Kiosk for 100 to 200 Gold. Sure, I kept some around in storage, but once I hit 6 Traits, that storage time started being double digit days. So, it was better to use that inventory space for loot to sell and just buy the items when I needed them.

Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

@winterpsy: Sadly this is something that has been discussed and asked for since beta. With nary a response from ZOS. My guess is that it will never happen.

Something to try is to start writing a mail to one of your friends and attach the items that you don't want deconstructed. Don't send the mail, just let it sit there and the items should be marked as locked in your inventory. I know that it wouldn't let me use the item or put it into my bank when I did that last, but I didn't try deconstructing it.

Maybe worth a shot and once I get back on, I plan on doing that as well to see if it does actually work because I've deconstructed many items saved for research as well.
