Alchemy in 5 hrs and prices.

I decided it was time to lvl my alchemy since i'm climbing to vet rank with 2 different toons. I farmed coldharbour for 4 hours and had around 50-60 plants of each type you can get from that area. I had been saving only the solvents due to space issues and that's why i'm just now lvling it at lvl 45. I added prices in the title because i ran out of solvents and i was so close to be 50 i was anxious to just get it there and I checked the guild kiosks to purchase them and holy cow. People are charging outrageous amounts for these items. I seen 35 filtered water for 10k and another that was charging 50k. How are they getting these prices? Luckily i had enough filtered water for that level, so i only needed to purchase purified and for some reason i found 50 for a heck of a lot cheaper. i paid 2500g for the 50. Then I needed clouded mist but 2 weeks ago i wasn't paying attention and purchased 50 for 1000g. Checked yesterday just in case i needed more and i could no longer find any for that price. I'm on ps4 by the way. is the market for these items broken or are people just plain "***"? Fyi needless to say i made it to lvl 50.

    People are greedy.

To be fair vet level solvents are more common in the long run, because they can be looted for five zones instead of just one or two, so level 10-40 solvents will cost more than vet 1 or 5 ones. When faced with the same thing you experienced (in the early days of PC where prices were still high) I just dedicated an hour or 2 to collect fresh water from streams and backpacks in the appropriate zones. I have no intention of feeding someone else's greed.

Yeah, I'd feel guilty even charging 10g a piece. But, some people really are willing to spend more for convenience. And don't get me started on the prices of the plants. :(

Filtered Water is one of the Rarer drops as off level it drops in just a few limited areas.

Also, you really don't need to grind any Consumable Crafting skill to 50, 40 is enough. Most every Passive and Craft Level you want is unlocked by 40. Making things for your self will get the skills up the rest of the way in due time.

The only real exception to this is Provisioning as you need 50 to get the passive to make Ambrosia. But, get the recipe first before you worry about that as you can grind to 50 pretty quick if needed.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

I believe that with IC, you will need to have level 50 in order to craft V15 gear/potions.

EDIT: Filtered Water drops regularly in Coldharbour containers (especially in the Dark Alchemy Lab's Dwemer containers), so it's actually pretty easy to get once you're there.

That's what I mean by a limited number of areas. Cold harbor is not exactly stuffed with Water Nodes. It's not impossible to find, just harder.

Although with the increase in containers in Dwemer Ruins, if you can reach a L40's Dwemer Ruin, it's easier to farm Filtered Water than it used to be.

I figured they might have put Vet15 potions behind a L50 Craft Wall. But, a stack or two of Tri Pots will get you from 40 to 50.

Yeah, people are really ***-ing greedy when it comes to things like this.

I've seen people charge 10K for one daedra heart. ONE.
Then there are really nice guys that offer them for 750g each (That's the cheapest I've EVER seen them).

The Trading Guilds, at least on PS4, are unpredictable and pretty much useless. Unless you need a lvl 40 necklace for 3K or a stack of 10 leather scraps for 500 gold.

I'm very disappointed in the economy, or the lack of, in ESO.

If you need any kind of water, find the appropriate level and just run up and down a river or around a lake or two. Water is pretty easy to find.

I'm disappointed as well when it comes to the economy but, like azure said sometimes you can find the really nice people that will sell items appropriately. I just wish it was more established.

I find the prices on the vendor and the prices that people are shouting out discouraging. I want to make a profit as a crafter but not by ripping fellow gamers off. But I fear that I sell my things for a reasonable price and someone buys it just to up sell it to someone else. I feel that until the game's economy levels out on console that there will be a crafter's price and trader's price.

I would like to craft the XP potions for a reasonable price but 400k for a piece of the recipe makes crafting them unreasonable. And person that doesn't do prov to buy an XP potion at 10k that only last for 30 minutes is crazy talk. At capped provisioning and limited recipes, I can't do writs because they always want a recipe that I don't have.
