Can't justify membership any more

Not an I quit thread because I'm not quitting, but I have today cancelled my and my son's ESO Plus membership. The reason being that we are both casual players, we both play other games far more. As a casual player of ESO I find that when I do login I have nothing to do. I cannot do anything in Craglorn alone and this game doesn't allow teaming with players that are at a different level or who have already done the quest you are on. My son is VR2 and I am VR12, so I can't help him and he can't help me. Same with our guild, most of whom are VR14 and because gear is important they don't run stuff with lower levels.

I started a highly defensive build to attempt Crag on my own but I've kind of lost interest now. The group finder still doesn't work, I can wait hours for a group to form I suppose but as of yet I've never been able to form a group with this system.

I don't like PvP at all, it's far too difficult for me as a casual player, constantly ganked if you go in alone and in a group whilst fun if you do die it's a massive long horse ride back to the action, which to me is pretty boring again and again. When you're in the action there is so much Sorc spam I find it hard to even see who I'm supposed to be shooting at.

When I learned that IC was coming soon my hopes increased dramatically only to be dashed the instant I discovered it was a PvEvP map, I can imagine the gankers just sitting at the gates to IC and stopping anyone getting in.

That only leaves RP, I used to think the towns and cities in ESO were pretty good but then I played TW3 and my God that's how to bring life to a game, now everywhere in ESO appears populated by automatons that are on a short cycling loop animation.

So I thought I'd just relay my reasons for cancelling my sub if anyone is interested or if anyone feels the same, I know I am just one voice in hundreds of thousands but I can't believe I'm the only one who is disappointed. I'll pop in from time to time, see what's happening, keep the game patched etc. For those that stay I wish you all well and hope you continue to enjoy ESO. For those that don't play as much or not at all I fully understand, let's hope that ZOS can add content for the casual gamer in the future.

All the best
Matt

I do not expect this to be the case. Thing is, any player who enters IC stays in IC. There will be no constant stream of single players going in that entrance. That means the ganker would have to give up intense(and i mean intense, judging from PTS) PvP action inside IC for a meager single kill here and there.

On PTS, even with locked cyrodiil, i never met a soul on the path between fort Ash and the sewers entrance next to it. Inside IC memorial district however? Pure madness.

    subbed to
    ESO Plus (X1)
    SWTOR
I think WoW still has a sub running
    thinking of resubbing EVE

Might resub a few of the others, have 2 or 3 games with lifer

So while i can see running a few games can rack up the cost, it's still not much over 1 month even if you play them all just a bit

So you got about 11 months of entertainment and playing a game with your son out of it. Good for you. Enjoy your next game. I don't see the need to post about it, though.

Right there with you @Mathius_Mordred. I still play regularly but I can't do the stuff I want to do because it's group content. I FINALLY ran Crypt of Hearts but I would have much preferred if I could run it solo.
What ESO really needs is an Auction Horse.

You can! :) (at least the normal one).

What you need: Orc (or nord) DK, full suit of heavy armor, Orgnum's scales set(blue quality is enough), jewelry enchanted with health regen, 2H mace, 3-way regen drink.

Brawler for groups of mobs, wrecking blow for single mobs/bosses. You will regen health faster than the mobs can damage you. Tested personally.

I've been no lifing eso for 3 weeks since I bought it, and I feel guilty that I spend so much time on it, yet give nothing back. On that premise I thought about subbing, which I will most likely do. The XP, gold, and crafting bonus seems pretty cool too.
    Also, I hate money.

Even tho it is just a little, it is nice to see a bit of reduction in crafting time ;-)

But I want to run it with my Argonian Nightblade in light armor and dualweilding daggers. [/sarcasm]

I do need to look into optimizing my build though. Thanks!

There will be more for you in the future....

Craglorn, yeah its kinda wacky how a lot of that content works but you can at least do the Delves with a few diff ppl without being on a quest if you have not already. Also there are some repeatable quests but you've prob either done those already or already know this.

Get a better guild. A guild is here to help and play together. If they're no people helping for Craglorn quests (Craglorn can be easily done by 2-3 members) or running low dungenos, that's not a good guild.

So yes Crag doesn't give xp a lot, doesn't give top tier rewards, but it give content to all veteran characters, from v1 to v14 if you're at least 2 or 3 folks depending on your group. The zone is now pretty big and if you're not in hurry mode, quests and landscapes are interesting aswell.

My son is VR2 and I am VR12, so I can't help him and he can't help me.

First off: do what is best for you.

I will say though, that I've never let "not seeing the quest" or being slightly off level - or for that matter not getting XP - stop me from running around and fighting/playing with a friend. I have a 16th level Altmer who ran through Toothmaul Gully 5 times (before 8th level) simply because she liked it - and so I would have no problem re-doing it with friends who hadn't been there.

Had an interesting experience playing through the Wyrd sisters quest with someone who was just doing it (I'd already done it with that character); I couldn't see who she was fighting - at first - but she was a dragonknight and as soon as she chained/pulled someone I could see them (and help her fight them).

Yes, the game has limitations along the quest/solo lines. But there are ways to address them that are still fun for me.

Maybe not so much for you.
Tenesi Faryon of Telvanni - Dunmer Sorceress who deliberately sought sacrifice into Cold Harbor to rescue her beloved.
Hisa Ni Caemaire - Altmer Sorceress, member of the Order Draconis and Adept of the House of Dibella.
Broken Branch Toothmaul - goblin (for my goblin characters, I use either orsimer or bosmer templates) Templar, member of the Order Draconis and persistently unskilled pickpocket
Mol gro Durga - Orsimer Socerer/Battlemage who died the first time when the Nibenay Valley chapterhouse of the Order Draconis was destroyed, then went back to Cold Harbor to rescue his second/partner who was still captive. He overestimated his resistance to the hopelessness of Oblivion, about to give up, and looked up to see the golden glow of atherius surrounding a beautiful young woman who extended her hand to him and said "I can help you". He carried Fianna Kingsley out of Cold Harbor on his shoulder. He carried Alvard Stower under one arm. He also irritated the Prophet who had intended the portal for only Mol and Lyris.
    ***
Order Draconis - well c'mon there has to be some explanation for all those dragon tattoos.
House of Dibella - If you have ever seen or read "Memoirs of a Geisha" that's just the beginning...
Nibenay Valley Chapterhouse - Where now stands only desolate ground and a dolmen there once was a thriving community supporting one of the major chapterhouses of the Order Draconis
