- ZOS likes to keep discussion on any given topic consolidated in one place as much as possible, and if they see a duplicate thread on the same topic (in this case adding text chat support to consoles) they'll close it and direct people in the thread to post in the other thread instead

Sorry, I didn't mean for it to sound like you should have to explain it.
I would just like somebody to explain why this one topic is only allowed one thread, and other topics can have ten on the front page at any one time.

Seems ridiculous to me. Why can't you just type with the on screen pad? You don't even need to type that often, so why get a keyboard for my controller? You haven't used the 360 version of this before? It's superior to thumbing around with the onscreen keyboard and it allows you to not have the screen covered with a onscreen keyboard while playing a MMO.
Also in response to another post here....there isn't a chatpad that WORKS properly for Xbox One. Those one Amazon are junk that require you to plugin a USB single into the Xbox One in order for Xbox One to recognize it as a 'keyboard'. It then also covers the port on the Xbox One controller where you would plug in a mic. Completely useless.

Now try reading the chat and typing .. then notice how fast the chat is being spammed to sell x,y,zZoS please understand everyone thinks and pronounces things differently, so please add to your 'rules' that things get removed if the Mod doesn't actually quite understand phrasing1 -
