Error 301 and Error 209 after patch

I patched the game an hour ago and I have been getting Error 301 every time I try to login. After error 301, if I try to login again without closing the client, I automatically get Error 201.

After a few tries and restarting the launcher, I started getting the occasional Error 209 (Patch Manifest) in the launcher. After closing the launcher and reopening, there is a chance that Error 209 won't appear and I can click Play and open the client like usual. However Error 301 still appears during login.

For Error 209 I tried repairing and reinstalling the launcher. Doesn't work.

For Error 301 I don't know what to do.

Please herlp!

Login now works and no longer display Error 301.

However when opening the launcher Error 209 still occasionally appears (if it doesn't appear, the game works!).

I have been getting Error 209 the same way. It appears almost always the first time I open the launcher, but then closing and reopening it is like 50/50 chance of it getting rid of the error by itself.

I've done everything in their knowledge base to try and get rid of it, even uninstalling and reinstalling the game (which sucks btw), and it still is the same as before.

Let you know if I hear anything that could be helpful.

I've also had Error 209 frequently. When I do get in the game crashes every time I move to different area or zone. Porting to other zones means I have to re-log after crashing and get the 200 error again. Kind of like a catch 22. This game is becoming unplayable for me and I don't doubt many others.

I have been having the same issue. Half the time I open the launcher it gives me the error, but sometimes I can still click play even with the error displayed and sometimes it doesn't even give me the error at all. When I do get it game it runs fine for a while but I almost always crash when accessing my bank or my guilds bank/store and then I get that error and can't relaunch the game.

I have been going back and forth with support all day and the last thing they had me do is making sure ESO is an exception to my firewall (which I don't even have activated) and doing port forwarding which had no effect at all except now my Xbox disconnects my frequently so I will probably have to delete all those things they told me to add.

The last thing I just tried was uninstalling everything, game, addons, etc. and deleting any folder relating to this game, disk cleanup and defrag then restarting and redownloading the game and reinstalling. Still same results, half the time error and half the time no error but soon as it crashes I get an error. Waiting on my next reply from support about this.

If you are using the browsers firefox or chrome as your primary you will get 209 a lot if you switch to internet explorer and run as the administrator it will go away. The patcher doesn't seem to like other browsers for the news update part of it.

That makes no sense. For one, the browser should no affect a game client. If Zenimax is so lazy they rely on IE, they're living in the 90's. Nobody runs IE anymore, hence the rebranding of it in Windows 10. I use Firefox almost exclusively due to security flaws in Webkit (what Chrome and Safari are built on) and have IE11 blocked in my firewall. Yes, outgoing is blocked also.

Anyway, I did not have this issue in the beta or after release. The 209 only started on the last patch. Not the one this past Monday, but the one which came a few weeks before. Since this patch it is happening almost constantly, so I doubt IE is the issue. If it is, why has it worked flawlessly until now?

Whats sad is I see no indication of Zos caring about this or having any intention to fix it.

Ive read deleting .version files in the ESO files helps, but it didnt do a thing for me.

I make backups of the game to an external hard drive. Which I backup-ed and overwrote my previous backup copy. I encountered this issue a few days ago after getting a blue screen from the Nvidia 353.62 driver. After overwriting my main copy to ensure any corrupted files were replaced it worked in getting rid of the issue for 2 days and now it's back again. I find it so much more annoying getting that popup than getting the classic such and such program has stopped responding windows message. I would love to download a 2GB patch on my slow internet if it fixed this issue.

Yeah the 209 is back for me as well. Just started today. Nothing is fixing it. Have a new system about to be put online so it will be a fresh install. I doubt that is going to matter or fix this problem.

The 209 has me also. Restart enough and it will finally figure out you're patched up and just work. Zenimax should have left this in Bethesda's hands. The engine appears to be getting worse as time goes on.

Well some people just tell you to load game from the .exe file.

1 problem, if that exe. file isn't current you still can't load the game, and after a patch u need to patch to get the current verison.

Yeah I always use the .exe unless it's patch day. It's bad on patch day with the 209 because you can have a good launcher and all of the sudden it goes stupid and throws up the 209 in the middle of patching....
