Symbols and Words over/by User names

I know this is probably a stupid question, but, since I've been trying to actually play ESO and add some of the Grouping and MMO elements to it, I have started to notice other players have symbols and words next to or by their user names on the screen.

Is there a listing or definition list of what they mean? Examples: a circle with a dot in it next to a user name or a ZoS email like symbol or the name just being "Volunteer"

Any link or help you can give me would be awesome.

Some asked me in game about symbols next to my name but I had no idea what they were talking about.

From I understand the"title" under their name is just that. A Title. Volunteer is an entry level into pvp.

The symbol is their rank attached to pvp as well?

I may be wrong about that one.

The symbols are the Alliance rank you gain in Cyrodiil by helping in PvP battles. You can see the ranks in the Alliance (L) area: Volunteer, Recruit, Tyro, etc.

By the way, you can also get a Title below your name by completing quests (not necessarily in Cyrodiil), ie: "Pact Hero" by completing the Ebonheart Pact main quest, and several other main or important quests.
