Yeah I always hated that. I was Born on January 1st, 19 (whatever is greater than 18 down the dropdown list)

Unfortunately it is a legal requirement for the content.

This is what happens when lawyers get involved.

Maybe they are compiling zodialogical information to cross reference IP addresses so they can ban all Virgos from the site.

I wonder what kind of data might be compiled from there.

I do tend to answer accurately - it's easier to log in my b-day than to make one up.

I just threw some random numbers at it a while back, locking myself out of the site as I guess the numbers I entered pegged me for underage. My fault, but there seems to be no way to undo it. Everytime I go to the website it just says I am not allowed and there are no other options. Maybe when the random numbers I entered have me turning 18 I will be granted access to the website......

Not sure why they cant just have the I'm over 18 button. But then again... I'm not sure why they cant have a search feature at the guild trader either.

Humorously enough, I actually can answer that one! Actually, I'm going to take a stab at the second one too from what I've seen over time on ESOUI, as well . The lack of an "I'm over 18" button may have to do with their lawyers' legal advice as to how strictly and tightly defined the consent is. I'm not a lawyer, just a lawLyer, mind you, though .

As to the stuff like a search box on the guild kiosks/traders, I've seen some discussion in the past of technical limitations involving the UI mostly, and somewhat involving the server end a little, but not as much. I have no information at all as to what they're doing with those UI updates mentioned on ESO live but for what they said in there, but my hunch is, they've probably noticed that feedback and factored it into their UI improvements. Hopefully!

@TheShadowScout, pro-tip, in a friendly way rather than one of those elitist ones ! Next time you need to enter the date there, instead of trying to drag the mouse down, which like you got at is just downright tedious... click the left box, and hold down an arrow key!


And then you don't even have to click! Just hit "Tab", and do the same thing with the next box. Tab again, and finish it by hitting tab one last time and pressing "Enter". Voila! Much, much less tedium.

One last note: the age gate actually is intended to store it in a cookie. It does, normally. If you're seeing the age gate thing all the time, try to look into how to whitelist the Elder Scrolls Online site in your browser so it lets them through and it doesn't keep prompting you.
