Can we get rid of sticky maps on consoles please?

One of the problems I have is with the map system on the console. I play on the ps4 and can only assume it's the same for the xbox, when I'm trying to put a custom waypoint on the map the curser will be randomly drawn to the nearest location and make it virtually impossible at times to create a custom waypoint. Can we please have a way to turn this off? I would love to see a map option to turn this on and off to make the map system easier to use.

Haha yeah I'm Skyshard hunting right now and the 'sticky map' thing is pretty annoying, but I wouldn't say it's -that- much of an issue! Oh well.

Can you explain this a different way?

I'm on Xbox and I use the map all the time but I don't follow the experience you're having.
I came from PC so maybe it's just unnoticed by me

When you are trying to use the map system the curser will automatically jump to the nearest point on your map, so say you are trying to make a custom waypoint near a wayshrine and you move the curser where you want to put the waypoint. The game will think you want to use the wayshrine and auto jump the curser to it before you can place your waypoint. It's not a super huge deal but it is an annoying feature.

I'll have to play around with this tonight but I don't recall it being an issue or annoyance.

Now with that said...depending upon what quest you have as a focal point and what area or zone you're in this may be the root of your experience.

I've not had any experience that prevents me from opening a map and setting a mark.
There is a difference between opening a map to use and using the teleport from way shrine to way shrine.

Is this occurring when using a way shrine only?
Is this occurring from the quest journal map?
Is this occurring when not near a way shrine but just opening the map?

Yeah, that is kind of annoying. I ran into just a couple of nights ago when I was trying to mark an area not far from a town. COULD NOT do it.

Not the most important flaw in the game, but a simple fix methinks.

I also hate that it does this. And for me it happens no matter if I open a map in the wild or use a wayshrine, the cursor always auto navigates to the closest icon.

And I like using the icons as landmarks so I know where to set my waypoint. I'd rather not have to hide everything with a filter when it would be much easier to have an option to turn off the sticky map feature.
Play on PS4 I do like the game, I just feel it could be a lot better and would like to feel like the devolpers actually care about the game and not just making money

I'm on XB1 and I have this problem all the time. I mostly run into it when I'm stuck in a mountainous area and I'm trying to use waypoints to navigate my way out and around to the area I need to go. My sense of direction is utter garbage.

It gets even worse when you're trying to place a point between two locations on the map.

Yes I did read all of the previous comments. Notably those on Xbox one and or PC who are sharing that they don't have the described experiences that the OP is having.

I'm asking more so that I fully understand exactly when this occurs and also exactly when it doesn't occur.

Are you able to respond on behalf of the OP?

Try placing one near a wayshrine or discovered area. As you move the pointer close to it, it will lock on to the wayshrine and auto-jump to that. Ran into the problem the other night trying to mark a skyshard that was near a town I had already discovered.

The problem isn't way shrine specific. The problem is when your curser gets too close to an icon on the map. Be it cities, way shrines, dungeons, or whatever. The cursor will auto lock onto the icon assuming that's where you're trying to go when, instead, you're trying to place a waypoint close it.

Just to be clear I am referring to when the curser automatically moves to the nearest icon on the map. I was just using the wayshrine as an example. It does this every time you open the map.

It is a "snap to" point feature that is mostly annoying if you have the map zoomed out and points are close together
the cursor may snap to the point you don't want.

Zooming the map in getting more distance between the two points helps.

Gotcha...for me I believe the best way to work around this is to fully zoom in on the map prior to moving your cursor around.
I'm sure there are times my suggestion will not work but because there is no mouse support I prefer what exists.

Perhaps there could be an option in the menu to turn some functions off

Yeah, this is a pain. It is really aggressive too. Even in very open spaces it will zip to nearest icon, not just near icons that are close together.

It wan't like this at launch for me on Xbox, not sure when it showed up / changed for me. i'm going to sit down and check settings. pretty sure there is no "autoaim off" etc.
