I wouldn't count on any improvements or changes that can't be monetized in some fashion.

Would rather 64bit Client sooner than DX12.

Hopefully not, as I have no wish to downgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 10.

If this game is going to have any future past 2016, they are going to have to do both a 64 Bit version as well as DX12 compatible. This would also allow PC and consoles to play on the same servers.

It will be done at some point.

Ya I believe at some point in the far future they will support it. Games like WoW and I think Civilization 5 added directx 12 support at later dates. It's possible for them to do it, but when is the big question. I wouldn't think any time in the next year.

ESO isn't even 64-bit. It can't even utilize any memory beyond 4 GB.

I asked Kai at the forum and he asked Matt, the reply was that they are thinking about DX 12, but that they also have to factor in that not everyone might have Win 10 yet and Playstation has its own API as well. They are aware of the benefits and definitely want to support it at one time, but not yet. The game shall run for everyone, not just a few ;)

DX 12 is the future of gaming and to not go for it, would be a bit silly, especially if we consider the massive issues that MMOs on PC have these days due DX 11 and that Microsoft will surely push DX 12 to their Xbox ASAP.

I am not a Developer, but coding the game for DX11 on Xbox, DX12 on PC and the "Open GL - Sony´s secret" API on PS4 sounds like a massive job, so they will probably just wait for the Xbox release.

If ZOS decides to add DX12 support, then people on DX 11 can still play just fine. Nothing will change for you.

That's what you get with vendor lock-in.. everybody looses... except the vendor that can lock-in the users.

Microsoft and nvidia have perfected this art.

Going to 64bit and using DX12 would be HUGE performance boosts. I really hope it happens. On PC there will be less " exclusive " graphic features between AMD and NVIDA ( they will still be there but it isnt major things in the end ) and people at some point would be able to use both an AMD and NVIDIA card in the same machine with how the API communicates now.

But a conversion may not be until they do an expansion so can do all the rewriting they need.

Again. I really hope it happens.

Going to 64bit and using DX12 would be HUGE performance boosts. .

Best performance, best FPS, best PVP paly!

Update any software and always welcome !

ZOS should look fondly to update the core, and use the best technologies. ( even if it costs a few years of development) !

They would probably need to upgrade their back-end too and honestly that is probably a major part of the lag that can happen in PvP anyway ( going to 64 bit and upgrading their end as well would help that IMO ). So they should go ahead and get it all out of the way at the same time.

Currently, the DX11 renderer is said to be a DX11 wrapper around DX10.1 calls, or something along those lines, and so, if DX11 isn't being truly used, there's no reason to expect DX12 to be.

Anyway, it wouldn't "do anything", but allow pushing more resources on screen while keeping performance reasonable.

All this said, I would LOVE an update that was a graphics only update. HD textures, new lighting options, more anisotropic filtering from the in game menu, parallax texture mapping, etc. would be amazing.

ESO actually looks pretty darned good, but it's the texture resolution that holds it back. Muddy, muddy textures. Great art direction and aesthetics, but the texture sizes are simply too poor.

So many of us with even 8 year old machines could run twice the texture resolution, and there is nothing wrong with adding more graphics options.

Tell that to my client, that hovers around 1.8GB regularly and will spike until it freezes/crashes during intense gameplay. :-\

King Richard uses a controller on PC that follows the ZOS control scheme. You need some fishing lessons lol.

That aside, my boy Phil Spencer doesn't like cross-platform play.

It would do quite a bit actually. It isnt just a direct API for better performance. It has a whole hosts of new features that will have little impact on that performance unlike DX10 and DX11.

If the vast majority of ESO current players and potential players were all running Win 10 with a dx12 card, they'd do it in a heart beat. But they're not. So why would you create 2 separate clients for windows when 1 does the job. They still wouldn't be able to optimize for it because they have to go for lowest common denominator.

If we see a DX12 version of the game it will only use some very specific feature that the other versions can just ignore without any impact. Meaning a very shallow implementation. And even that probably won't happen for a few years.

I think they should look at the fog distance first and foremost. I feel like I am playing Turok 64 sometimes.
