WHAT WENT WRONG WITH ME AND WINDOWS 10?

First let supply my PC's specs:
CPU-AMD athlong X4 760k black edition
GPU-Geforce GTX 750 superclocked 1gb
RAM-(2x)4gb Gskill stick
MOBO-Gigabyte F2A88XM-D3H
and i constantly maintain an internet speed of 60-65mbps

So i originally had the game on Win7, then saw the good Win10+eso performance reviews so i installed windows 10. Now EVERYTHING is slow and laggy, and not just the game the whole pc as well. And i was sure to update all the drivers and everything else, it baffles me cause i used to play on 60fps 100 ping all the time max settings no problem, now im lagging way too hard on medium settings. And i checked my usage during gameplay and the CPU and memory usage are at below 20%. So what went wrong? is there anything to do to fix windows 10? if not ill just have to revert back to 7.

thank you for any advice, any and all is appreciated!

If the entire pc is laggy then I would recommend looking at the pc and not at eso.
1: did you ever reboot after upgrading to windows 10?
2: check your taskmanager (make sure to click more details) to see if some processes are using morel memory or CPU than they should. for example, when testing windows 10 technical preview I had a few times that the ntkernel process was going crazy and took up all memory/cpu. It was always fixed with a reboot though. But it can always be that some old program is now in an endless loop.
3: make sure you install the latest drivers for your hardware (GPU, mainboard). look for versions approved for windows 10
    4: review your firewall settings
5: do a fresh install of windows 10 instead of the upgrade. Use this tool to create a bootable device: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

I literally have already done everything you just said haha, yes i rebooted tons oftimes, checked the task manager/CPUIDHWmonitor/and EasyTune6 and they all claimed low levels of temperature/usage/memory.
I downloaded all the latest drivers specific to windows 10 64x (kind of hard not too when NVIDIA blows up your notifications). now i didnt check the firewall if you would care to explain that thatd be awesome.

and yes i did the up grade and the iso to usb boot option, same difference.

Also i noticed its not slow until i start to run eso, then the pc just turns into a turtle even when the eso task is killed.

I do know from AMD that the new Drivers activated a specific scaling Option, maybe Nvidia did so as well and its too much for your system to handle? Check your Nvidia control center, I don't use these cards anymore, so I don't have a better advice . then just checking if anything looks odd, like the resolution settings, AA, Sampling...

You can also run a defrag of your HDD, if you always lag and not just in game, then it might have to do with files being too spread out or windows having issues to cache them properly. I didn't run Win 10 + ESO yet, so I can not say much about its performance there. But before we get a DX 12 patch, ESO wont profit that much from it, as most of the performance will come from DX 12 (gaming wise).

Without DX you might only win a few frames, so I am not sure if its worth it to update only for ESO. It also depends on your hardware. Especially systems that had issues addressing all cores, handling the GPU - CPU workload will be smoother under Win 10.

I am having the same problem. ESO is running fine but when I alt tab out of the game to windows 10 it so slow i cant do anything. Only started after I downloaded the Imperial City update. As soon as I shut down the game everything starts running normally again. All my other games are running fine using windows 10.

Well technically Windows 10 is not officially supported by ZOS, its not listed in their system requirements page.

That's why I erred people to wait, win 10 has only been out for a month and it changed ALOT. DirectX was completely re-written for DX12 and DirectX 9-11 apps are actually running on a compatibility layer now that emulates these features for backwards compatibility and its far from perfect. Will take AMD and Nvidia a few months to perfect drivers to work out the kinks in these major changes.

I have rested windows 10 extensively with over 500 applications, its a good OS, but its not ready for primetime, vendors and driver providers need a few more releases to polish off drivers, if you can roll back to 7 or 8.1 I'd recommend it or just deal with win10 issues for awhile longer.

That page was last updated today and Win 10 is not listed there. Until.ZOS updates that page and confirms Win 10 compatible and its listed there ymmv.

Just an example but enabling AMD Crossfire on ESO with windows 10 causes massive flickering that is not present on win 7 or 8, I have notified AMD of this issue and how to replicate, but this just an example of how drastically different these OS are.

Just trying to save some folks major headaches in the future, its usually best to wait 3-6 months after a new OS releases to upgrade, gives vendors and hardware folks time to make apps compatible and have drivers refined to work well.

    Sorry typing from my phone.

    Good luck guys/gals

    I don't think its windows 10. Theres a thread: http://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/212165/massive-fps-drops/p1

Where people are having the same issue regardless of the OS installed.
