If there are "a billion other places to level", why don't you just choose a new spot?

Other than whining for attention, what was the point of your post, OP?

If you don't want to share, then I suggest you quest. But watch out for those grinders that show up after you and prevent you from getting any extra XP from kills while doing your questing.

This one senses that there will be quite a large gathering in Cracked Woods dungeon over the next week or so. Maybe even the close quarter, small group PvP action that IC promised will be seen. My NB looks forward to the challenge.

I already predict that the moment 1.7 patch will go live, there will be more fights in CWC than in whole cyriodiil, because everyone who knows about that spot will want to be first there to grind to VR16 asap. It might turn out to be hilarious.

Well IDK about that cause Craglorn is getting the 50% boost too along with it's own 20% boost and dungeons and quest so I'm just taking a wild guess saying Craglorn maybe "the" spot again.

So let me see if I got this straight: you're an exp grinder ticked off because of other exp grinders?

The entitlement here is appalling and emphasizes a need for developers to stop putting leveling in games just to spur addictive qualities many people can't seem to control.

I am glad for this thread, it explained the optimality of two person mob killing.

One question though, does it work that way if you are not in a group together?

What is annoying, are people who barge in to a cave where you are already in group of 2 people and they just pretend you are not there.

Upon making sure they are not there just for skyshard and boss kills, you ask them kindly to leave and explain why by being there and tagging all your kills (because waiting till you pull group of mobs and then just poking one aoe on them is tagging) are just wasting your and your friend time AND their own time. Of course after that they either ignore you and dont reply at all or laugh into your face.

People have 0 respect to those who were somewhere first and 0 respect to grindspot etiquette.

This +1000. I HATE people who come into a grind spot and start killin 1-2 mobs at a time or see you grouping mobs and start killing them off before you get them grouped. These people waste everyones time including their own when doing this. If you cant kill 6-8+ mobs at a time then wait until I group them up and start AoE before you start your crap damage, because you wont pull aggro.

I don't agree to the etiquette thing, sorry. The number of places is so limited that to have one place exclusive in a first-come-first-serve manner is bollocks for all those that for whatever reason cannot start playing at 10am. If I get to a grindspot which is taken, I join in. I do not counter-circle or try to be ahead of the ones there but I share every kill and be damned if you try to out-tag me. I also do not complain if someone else bunks in on my grinding. As long as he is able to keep up with me, he can share. Someone (a V14 stam NB) tried yesterday to take over my grind spot outside Cyrodiil. Let's say after I kept up with my lowly V10 for 5 minutes and he did not get a single kill without me partaking and me even being faster than him sometimes, he went away.

Now if there would be enough spots to satisfy a majority of willing, I can see the benefit of and would definitely adhere to a "grinding etiquette". As is? You will not stop me from catching up to your CP.

Etiquette in a fake world where nobody there matters to you irl is a joke. Do whatever you want whenever you want because well... because you can. :D

Early on a lot of the grinding was done in instanced dungeons. Kardala was a very popular one (there was some exploitive aspects to this, but bear with me). ZoS should make instanced content available for those who want grind, so it's available in such a manner that doesn't ruin others' experience. Something with a high respawn rate on trash mobs, so players are not getting extra access to boss drops.

Grinding is not going away. Many people who have already done the main quest line use it to get an alt to end game. Max level toons use it to level up new skills when they respec. Grinding can even be a good way of experimenting with new skill rotations or honing rotations that aren't reflex. Once you've done all the quests, there is really no other avenue for increasing skills or gaining those last few VR ranks.

As for the OP - great troll, you've gotten a lot of responses.

Are you familiar with the exp/people tagging monster mechanic? You get optimal experience with 2 people killing monster. When the third person tags in, every person who tagged monster will get reduced experience. That third person starts not only wasting their own time (by not finding another spot) but also wastes time of people who were first in that spot.

Eventually if enough people start running in same place, they will overkill spot and pauses between respawns will ruin experience for everyone even more.

Thats what MMO and grind spot etiquette is about. In terms of exp mechanics in ESO it would go like this:

    -Its first come first serve.
-When second person comes in and you are alone you offer them to join your group for optimal experience.
-If a person denies and says that they are there for quest, exp, skyshard there is no reason to interact with them, tho its nice of them if they want to kill monsters for his possible quest related activity they will do it along you.
-If you are already in group of 2 people for optimal experience, and third person appears in cave, first you ask them if they are to grind here or just for quest/skyshard/bosses.
-If they claim to be for grind then you should explain them that for optimal experience only 2 people should be in spot. Otherwise everyone will get reduced exp and they will overkill spot leading to even less exp.
    - Here comes the good etiquette. Third person informed about that case should respect people who were there first and leave to other place to not waste their own time and time of people who were there first. Just as people said, there is plenty of other places and in one of other places, that third person can be first one there
    - If the third person is here only for bosses/quest/skyshard its appreciated if that person will achieve his goal without interrupting activity or people who were first in that place
    - Same goes for people who were first in cave just for the sole purpose of exping. They shouldnt just randomly kill bosses. They respawn time is long and they offer very little prize. People who come for sole purpose of boss killing need them more so they should be left alone for people like that.
    -
Thats of course my opinion based on common sense and good manners.

I agree with grind etiquette with a couple stipulations. If you are the two person group and have been grinding for a considerable amount of time (more than two hours) then it is your turn to bugger off and let the newcomer have some time.

However this might not be as bad when the next update comes out as more places are meant to give more XP, if this doesn't solve the problem ZOS should utilize some of the empty patches in all the zones to great grind spots that aren't in any way linked to quests so that players have a variety of choices.
"It is a time of strife and unrest. Armies of revenants and dark spirits manifest in every corner of Tamriel. Winters grow colder and crops fail. Mystics are plagued by nightmares and portents of doom."

Grinders will always complain about other grinders.

this is a universal rule in any game where grinding is the fastest way to level up.

which is why i personally say that simple quests should give around 10-40x the xp they currently do, as if everyone can openly agree that questing is as fast if not faster, then there is minimal complaints save about the rare guy who complains that the nearly instantly respawning quest mob is being killed before he gets to it.

honestly its a MMO problem tho... no MMO i can think of to date has managed to honestly make grinding the same mobs over and over again the unpreffered methoid of leveling your digital muscles. heck most MMO Production teams honestly seem to think that its the best way...

in my opinion, doing every quest in a zone should be more than 10x the xp you need to be leveled for the next zone, giving a real feeling of option in terms of if you go there or do that quest beyond the story quests... imo the story quests in a zone should be enough alone to level you for the next, with optionals being a way to grab quick XP for a PvE advantage in the next zone. Excluding of course the point where you out level the content (pre Veteran) in which case they become little more than fun random maybes you can encounter and enjoy entirely at your leasure...

we can have this now... the champion system has added a (admittedly unbalanced) but near infinite way to keep leveling up once you are past the inital levels... we can have a excess of XP in the quest system with minimal downsides because otherwise people will just grind or complain...

I play every class in every situation. I love them all.
