Strange anecdote with two players. Any ideas why?

Hello,

I carry the doubt of what happened, so maybe telling you the anecdote you may provide an idea. It's just a stupid anecdote, but I'd like to know if someone went through something similar. :)

Me (VR6) and my gf (VR6) wanted to do Spindleclutch dungeon, so used the group finding tool that found this AH (username initials) (VR7) guy willing to play.

We were in need of one more player and the finding tool was taking too long so he asked if he could invite her gf (VR8) to the group (her initials CS II). We agreed so he asked me to promote him, temporarily, as the group leader so he could invite her to the gorup. I did and he invited her.

So, there we were, the four of use in the group chat, talking kindly and friendly, and so I advised to meet at the dungeon entrance.

I traveled there, my gf too, and waited at the entrance, outside for two or three minutes. The group showed AH and CS II were not in Glenumbra (Spindleclutch area), they were in other lands, so I asked in the chat "Hey guys, are you coming?", and AH responded "Yes, going...".

They were still not appearing in Glenumbra. We were still waiting. Suddenly, AH comes out from the dungeon, stops around us, looks at us, and starts running towards a wayshrine. He uses the wayshrine and disappears.

I wrote in the chat: "Guys?". Nothing. Wrote then: "Hey AH, what was that?" No response.

I wrote again "AH, will you play? We're waiting", and my message didn't reach him this time (my message didn't appear in the chat, so I was "ignored" by AH").

I wrote then to CS II (her gf) and nothing.

And that was the last time we saw and talked to them.

So, what was that???!!!

Any ideas what could have happened? Why this couple did this? Why they joined to do the dungeon, were kind and friendly in chat and suddenly disappeared misteriously? Without response?

As mentioned; stupid anecdote, but I still have doubts about this crazy situation. :/:/:/

Thanks!

Thanks for sharing this anecdote, made me smile ;)
Not sure, what they thought they were doing though... trolling you? Changing their mind...?
I guess we'll never know their motivation behind all this.
I can just say that I love meeting weird and funny people, makes for good stories :D

I don't know what some people think when they behave like this. About a year ago, something similar happened to me, too. I approached the public dungeon in the Rift (Lion's Den, I think it's called), and someone invited me to group up. No word was typed in the chat, but he entered, and I followed (no one else was in the group). As soon as I was in, the guy left the dungeon, but we were still grouped. I followed him out of the dungeon, then he entered it again, and of course, I followed.. again. I thought maybe he had some kind of problem and has to re-enter for some reason. He didn't answer anything in the chat which was strange. Anyways, the next time it happened I had enough, since he obviously was trolling. I just left the group, went away and I thought I'll just come back at a higher level and solo the whole thing. It's just not worth my time to wait for any idiots.

The only thing I can think of is that maybe it had something to do with your level vs AH's. Perhaps there is some trick where they get you to be the leader in order to get a lower level instance of Spindleclutch, and then they do it together. Or higher, in order to gain XP.
Maybe it had something to do with that?

You were supposed to port to inside the dungeon not outside. Everyone meets up at the first wayshrine inside

My gf and I VR6, AH VR7 and his gf VR8, so maybe not.

I've given up trying to figure out why people do what they do in this game. I you try to apply logic, it will only give you a headache.

Her gf was never in the dungeon nor in Glenumbra area, and he, AH, wasn't there either. We were going in and out of the dungeon as I mentioned, looking for them inside and outside. AH suddenly appeared for some seconds and started running. Her gf never showed up at all (neither inside nor outside). And, even if we were not inside (although we were, several times), that's not a reason for such a weird behaviour, even not answering the chat messages and disappearing completely, blocking our usernames also. Very weird in my opinion. :)

Everyone is over looking the two most obvious possibilities:

    1. The GF gave the BF that certain look and they had something better to do
    2. The GF gave the BF that certain look and he knew he was in trouble for something so he ran off to harvest/buy flowers.

Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

PakKat "Everything was going well, until I died"
Gary Gravestink "I am glad you died, I needed the help"

Ha, of course, didn't think of that ;)

lol. I have had similar occurrences. This kind of tomfoolery (yes... I just used that word.) is what lead me to suggesting Hirable NPCs. That way, you and your GF could just hire 2 NPC characters to run Spindleclutch with instead of going through the trouble of trying to find someone ELSE to run the dungeon.

Well It seems like the OP is new to the dungeon thing, and no one meets outside the dungeon. If you group for a dungeon run when the group is formed, you port to the dungeon itself which brings you inside. They were probably waiting for your inside for several minutes.

Also did you invite the appropriate roles? Sounds like this pug was not balanced or something. But no vet players meet at the entrance of dungeons, so if you say meet at entrance they took it as you are meeting them on the internal entrance where you port to. There is no need to ever meet outside the entrance, when you can port straight in.

Terrible idea, will never be implemented to the scale where an npc is a viable vet dungeon option.
    >There already are npc companions for some dungeons, they do nothing.
    >Npc will never be a suitable human replacement, if they are then its crazy op.
    >ZOS would never take out the human element to an mmo, if we could all just group with npcs what is the purpose of playing with others.
    >You are still in the Skyrim Mindset, this is ESO an MMO, there are real people and that is what it is meant for.

Well, it seems you didn't read my post, nor read any further comments in the thread, or you're trying to be the "smart" guy here.

1 - Yes, appropriate roles (and in any case it's their fault since, once in the group, you can see everyone's roles and you have mouth and "fingers" to ask anything you like to know before accepting to join, mostly if you are an experience VR and know how things work).

2 - I also advised they were NEVER in the dungeon area (Glenumbra nor Spindleclutch - the group screen advises that, also the map), and that we went in and out the dungoen several times, looking for them inside and outside.

3 - And finally, just a quick: "Guys, where are you? We're inside", would have done the job.

Instead, no response? No words? Silence? Ignoring and blocking us? No "Sorry guys, we can't play because...".

I think you're misleading the anecdote and don't see the weird part of the story, instead, you're trying to excuse unpolite people where just a quick message in the group chat would have resolved things, if any problems.

So, if an unexperience player commits a mistake, you are such an intolerant person that don't even speak to them again and block them without further words? That's so weird too!

I feel happy my gf and I didn't join this couple.
