.....but can Xbone players play with PC or PS4 players? I don't know anyone to test this with. I assume not but I thought it might not hurt to ask :-)

Nope, you cannot. Each platform has its own separate servers and they can't interact.

No, not at the moment. i really hope they merge servers with ps4 players with xbox though

definitely would be more competitive imo
