Wasn't really sure where to post this, I hit vet 1 last week, loved the leveling in game and probs ran 6-7 normal dungeons along the way.
But now the VR ranks seem to slow, so I thought I'd jump into vet dungeons as the pledges make the queues quicker.......nope

Past 5 days I've wasted 9 hours using the dungeon queue finder, it either finds 2 tanks (who both queued just tank), or it finds a VR6 and VR4 then me and another at VR1, meaning they laugh and leave the group straight away.

I saw the quakecon video where they said they would be making all 3 factions able to dungeon together making the queues quicker, but that its most likely 6 months away from being put into the game.

long queues aside console users just seem different to PC players, in the sense that even when reading out boss mechanics you still see others run around like headless chickens. (only so many times I can say kill the healers first and watch them take aggro from the boss that I'm trying to kite)

So tl:dr is if the dungeon changes are not coming for at least 6 months is it worth hanging around?, or should I leave the game and come back once the system is actually working.

I love the game and the story, but I hit vet with the intention of doing the vet dungeons, and doing the silver and gold Caldwell stuff during my lazy nights.

I remembered the times when u was needed to gain several millions of xp to make a vet rank. And now u r complaining about slow leveling

So my whole post and you focus on the "seems too slow", don't really care that much about the speed of vet ranks, I'm about 3/4 towards VR2 from questing (and the many failed vet dungeons after downing first boss)

so i'll say again as people seem to think this is a QQ post about vet rank xp, it really really really is not, its about the queue system and the amount of time I've wasted on that.

and how all I want to do is try the awesome vet dungeons and be able to complete any of them as they seem leagues better than normal mode dungeons.

I thought everyone knew the Group Finder was **** - your best bet of getting dungeons done is to ask in guild chats - if you aren't getting enough response in your current guilds, there are plenty of others out there!

I can see where OP is coming from. Group finder has been horrible since pc launch. Sadly, console players can't sit in whichever faction their in pledge zone and text chat lfg like pc players. Have you tried joining guilds and making friends in game that you can ask to run the dungeon with? It def sucks to be a low vet level and trying to find groups for pledges because most people only want to form with v12+ people. I have 5 v14 toons soon to be 6. I do pledges with each one everyday if possible. I can care less what level the other people are. I just want to get it done so I can get my gold key.

Then I would suggest that you make a thread title that refers directly to your issue. It also isn't highlighted in the OP.

I only truly worked out what you were unhappy about in the penultimate paragraph.

Help people out here, they aren't mind readers and this is the internet.

That said, LFG does suck. Guilds have always been my ticket to fun Dungeon runs... at least until the Guild I am in collapsed during the post-launch exodus.

Honestly, I think they go to quick. If you do Allah quests, delves, dolmens and bosses in an area you level up before finishing them zone. I'm vet 5 and want it to slow down...

Getting champion points in between feels like mini levelling up to me too

If you are into the story, quests, and low VR dungeons, then maximum vet rank isn't a huge deal for you, and it doesn't matter if you rank up fast since you don't need it. So no need to be a no lifer.

If you just want to get yourself to max rank, it can be done by grinding exactly 14 hours. 1 hour a day for two weeks. Does that sound like no life? If so, MMOs are not for you.
I got an alt from lvl 1 to vet 14 in just above 2 days of /played, it really isn't that long

. The entire elder scrolls franchise is all about lore and pve. Every player who came to eso after playing other elder scrolls games, came because those games had awsome pve content. Pve should always take precedence over pvp in this elder scroll game as well. Instead of wasting time on *** pvp content, they ought to be focusing their resources on more pve content so that players can progress their lvl and enjoy the story at the same time, instead of doing boring *** like mindless grinding or even worse, pvp. Pvp should only be for *** and giggles and never a core part of the game.

Then you will become on of them people who rush dlc.

You call 5 days of 9hours rushing? Sounds like he just wants to do a dungeon run to me

Vet ranks are just tricky. You need to grind in order to hit VR 14 fast. Questing and dungeons are a total waste of time. You can get like 30-50% per hour. If you know how to. So in your case, you could get 4.5 VR levels, if you actually tried hard enough.

So being I vet 12 I dont got a social life or work 8 hour a day because I got both. I just play smart in game.

Play smart? This isn't rocket science. There isn't some drawn out formula to leveling pal.

And I'm sure you've probably been playing everyday since release. Not all of us can do that. I'm not knocking anyone, just saying my current situation does not allow me to do so.

There a a lot of place you can play giving ton of exp with not a lot of game time.
I just started then not long ago.
You can play 3 hour a day and get a vet level each 2 days

LOL the Leveling in ESO is not that bad compared to old school Everquest it`s ezmode.

but atleast in EQ we could camp rare world spawns for magic items while grinding EXP. Fungi Tunic Camp anyone. Pegasus cloak.

This game really doesn`t have rare world mobs to camp for items. you can run Dungeons over and over but most are simple in design, and most have the same lazy layout /yawn.

In all the MMOs I have played since 1999 old EQ still had the best designed Dungeons, all were different some had secret passages, illusion walls, floor traps, under water and were huge.

Kasora, Seblis, Chardok, howling stones, Lower Guk were just a few and all were great, kinda lame how dumbed down and simple dungeon design in games today are.

you can easily do 1-2 VRs a day...

depends how long your gaming day is ... but since I hit V11 with literally no soloable quests left for XP and an appalling group system grinding that last V11-14 has become a little mind numbing.

My dilemma is currently, should I pot up for reduced XP required and hit V14 with nothing left to do except grind CP's for my alt toons to be OP in PvE ?

EXP pots have just been added to the console versions of the game
Imperial City patch will lower the amount of xp it takes to get every vet rank, and raises xp gains across the board pretty much. It also adds a new game mode that's a lot of fun and ok XP based on my experience on PTS

Both of those combined make the vet grind a lot less grindy

Cadwell's Silver is shorter than the main story. The same for Cadwell's Gold.

Do you want 80 levels of leveling in cadwell's silver and gold so you can see more leveling animations?

Of course, this supposedly isn't the topic of this thread...

I agree the group finder is horrid. Been times I only get a group of 2 or 3 as well when qued for vet dungeons. So much time wasted on group finders with ppl d/c, not qued proper, and just leaving mid dungeon.

People are still complaining about leveling ...

I'm guessing the majority didn't even bother to read the patch notes... ,

    50% in vet quest Exp
    Group dungeone xp doubled
    20% exp in craglorn (means quests will be 80% more there, 100% exp x 50% vet quest bonus = 150% x 20% = 180%)

Plus they even added exp pots and exp scrolls,

But if that isn't enough you can grind, easy vet level a day takes 2~ hours at most.

Or you could even switch it up grind 35% of a vet level, do a vet pledge, do some pvp, grind the last 35% and a level!!!

    Such WOW! i know. right.

As the OP said in his post, he wanted to play dungeons but had to queue for 9 hours to get one failed team. The VR just split the players up to the point noone can get a team. Bugged dungeon finder dosen't help either.

Don't give up hope! I've gone from V1 to as of tonight V9 with 52% til V10 in about two weeks. Yes, it takes a really long time to level but when you do it feels so good... My advice to you is what many others have already said. Quests, all of them. Dolmens, World Bosses, Delves, Public Dungeons. If you want to see even MORE experience there's always the ESO Plus subscription as well as the option of finding someone to bind yourself to with a Pledge of Mara. Both will give you a 10% experience boost. Lastly, check the patch notes and tell me that Questing and Public Dungeons aren't going to make this 10 times easier after the IC release. If you aren't caught up by then or wait til after IC to pick the game back up it should be much easier. Especially with them decreasing the amount of experience it takes to go from Vet Rank to Vet Rank.

Hope this was a little helpful!

    cadwell silver.

you said you loved 1-49 which is what cadwell silver is, but you go to another factions territory and 1 region will be1 vet rank.

so, for me as an ebonheart character. all of glenumbra was vet 1 enemies and quests. then all of stormhaven was vet 2.

i'm now vet 9, it DOES take a while to level.

you can also try grinding mobs.

    Thanks for the replies.

few still seem to think I want vet ranks gifted to me on a plate, still not the case, but you can still think I'm moaning about that if you want, even though my issue was the dungeon/queue system and the time sink just to find groups.

So last night I finally completed my first Veteran Pledge - Banished Dungeon I believe.
to about 2 hours to get a group of 4, and about 2 hours to complete, got my gold key too :)

I think what I will do is as a lot of people have said above, do cadwell silver as I loved the leveling/story and do vet dungeons at their recommended rank (instead of trying to do them all at vet rank 1)

Once again thanks for the replies and sorry if my posts seemed angry, just love the game but was getting frustrated with the time I spent queuing and having to leave groups after porting etc,
And after doing more story the vet exp doesn't seem to bad at all now.(plus the handing out of champ points like candy is great)

Joined 3 guilds now too, so i'll keep chat open with them while questing to see if I can be tempted to join ongoing vet parties :)

Boot up an original version of Everquest...

ESO isn't a grind, you can just play. Because, what will you do when you're at max level? If the answer is "I just want to pvp" then I feel your pain. If PvP isn't for you, or not a big draw for you, then just play the game, explore, have fun, and forget about the levels.
