A simple idea for stopping D-nozzles in Craglorn (or anywhere)

I was trying to mine resources nodes in Upper Craglorn this morning with one of my lower level alts. As a VR7 Templar I can still clear the scrub mobs that dot the landscape without too much risk of dying. The problem is there was a VR14 following me around and harvesting the nodes while I was killing the mobs. My simple suggestion is make the nodes in the monsters aggro range belong to the player who starts combat with those monsters. If that player flees the area or dies and the monsters reset the node goes back to being unclaimed. When you finishing killing the monsters you can harvest the node. After some amount of time, like 90 seconds, the node will return to "available to all" status. There is no reason to support this kind of petty thievery in PvE zones -- leave that to the gankers and door squatting losers in Cyrodiil and the Imperial City.

Yeah farming nodes in craglorn makes me remember why I hate people.

Yes that is really annoying. It would be nice if anyone that touches the node, chest, etc... automatically pulls the mob so no one can claim it until the mob is dealt with.

So what happen when someone who does not craft runs through and pulls argo on all mobs in the area to just get XP or to prove he/she is a bad@ss? How long would your flag last?

Like I said, 90 seconds. Sure, it'd be possible to abuse this system, but it'd be a hell of a lot of work and not profitable. And it self corrects. As soon as the monsters disengage they reset the node. So say Jerky McNoobasher aggros 3 mobs with his VR14 DK. At some point the monsters give up the chase and head back. The node (which could have a special red glow to indicate it's owned) would reset. I attack the mob and the node is mine after I kill the monsters.

You have to share the resources with everyone else in the game. This isn't a single player RPG where you have everything to yourself. Yes, there are players that do things like take nodes or chests while you are fighting mobs, but it's not the end of the world, and there is plenty for everyone.

If nodes are what you are after in the first place, just gather the ones that aren't near mobs.

LOL, most of the nodes in Craglorn, especially Upper Craglorn, are near mobs. And, no, this isn't a single player RPG but in PvE zones we shouldn't be worrying about PvP type player tactics. Heh, that's an idea! While the douchenozzle is stealing the Voidstone node I just fought for I should be able to attack and kill him. After all, it's not a single player game, right?

Well that's a different game change request all together. See if you can get forced duels added to the next Justice System Update, if a player "steals" your node lol.

Must be a problem solely limited to you or Upper Craglorn then. I gather stacks upon stacks upon stacks of raw materials and open 50 to 100 chests when I gather in Lower Craglorn and I don't have to fight a single mob, or other players for said nodes and chests.

Well, now I know you're just trolling. 100 chests? In the open in Lower Craglorn? What do you do, spend all day farming? Getting a chest every 2 minutes would be 3 and half hours of wandering LC. And you expect me to believe you never once accidentally aggro a mob? Yeah, right.

About 80% of nodes in Upper Craglorn can be harvested without aggro, if you know what you are doing.

That said, if someone is fighting mobs, I will help them and let them have the node. There's plenty to go around.

Yes, in Lower Craglorn. I have a very specific route that I have ran for a year when I want to farm raw materials. I know exactly where every node and every chest is, or is going to be, on this route. I know how to harvest each node and open every chest without aggro'ing a single mob. 90% of the nodes and chests aren't anywhere near a mob. And yes, on days when I do farm Craglorn I do it for several hours and I've made millions from doing it.

Wow, I don't have your kind of time. I can play a couple of hours most days, maybe longer on weekends. I shouldn't have to have a perfectly laid out route for every last bit of resources the game will hork up just to gather materials for crafting writs and a thin to non-existent chance of getting a nirncrux. All to avoid other players acting like complete douchenozzles. I'll say "good job" because apparently playing ESO is your full time job.

It's no different than hardcore PvP players who are in Cyrodiil for 8+ hours a day. I don't get to spend that much time in ESO every day, I do have a full time job, but when I do have the time I make the most of it.

Or you could just stop and let captain dirtbg rush ahead thus grabbing agro and you get the node.

Ah yes... fighting for harvesting resources. An old time classic event in which It brings out some of the worst in us, and really reveals the scumbags playing among us.

I find one of the best ways to prevent having stuff stolen from you, is to "steal it first" and by that, I don't mean do what they do to you, but play the waiting game. If you notice someone tailing you, or someone come up on you when you are about tog et something that has mobs in the way. Don't do anything. Just stand there and wait. Because to get to the node, somebody is going to have to aggro the mob.

Make sure that somebody isn't you.

So if you were there first, just wait to see what they do. Chances are if they are looking to snipe the node, they will realize that after a while, it's quickly becoming a waste of time and move on. Now if they aggro the mob, you move in and grab the node, then kindly return and help them finish the mob off. Because remember, you were there first. For all you know, they could try to take it before you do once the mob dies .

All is fair in love, war, and resource gathering. Always assume the person is looking to take it from you. Trust no one but yourself.
