Sorc vs DK - Pros and Cons
Currently sitting with a lvl 49 Sorc and a VR 1 dk.
Having an incredibly tough time finalizing one of these 2 classes. Yes, I know I could just keep leveling both, but I much prefer to put my time and effort into 1 first off, then experiment with the other one later on.
I am running both as a Magicka build, and am an avid PVE and PVP player. I would say 70% PVE and 30% PVP. My only major difference between the two thus far, is Sorc seems so much faster for leveling, whilie my DK seemed to drag on getting to VR1.
Looking for some input from anyone who may have both of these 2 leveled. PVE viability of Sorcs? I here alot about how magicka DK are the reigning top DPS, but is Sorc that much far off?
For PVP I know Sorcs are better, but DK's can still pull their own. However with the upcoming Ic changes, I'm concerned on how Magicka DK will have to change to adapt.

MmmmTofu✭✭✭I spend 70% of game time in PvP on my V14 Sorc. I also have a V3 NB, and just recently started a DK.
End game PvP Sorc seems to be very pigeon-holed, almost every sorc is running similar setup: curse, mage fury, frag, BE and tri-shields. While it is very effective, it has little variety. If you ever see two sorcerer fighting each other you will notice its the boring-est fight ever!
PvE-wise I couldnt really comment. I have never set foot into dungeons for the last 10 months, but a DK's class ability would have more to offer in a group comparing to Sorc's .0 -

For PVE, DK takes the cake IMO. Great survivability and the best sustained DPS of any class. The reason you feel the leveling drag is the sustained DPS of the DK versus the burst of the sorcerer. DKs have little in the way of burst. You basically apply all the DoTs and wait for their health bar to run out. The lack of burst really hurts DKs in PVP, which is why most of them run tank or heavy survival skill builds. They are all about out lasting their enemies and slowly burning them down.
For PVP, the Sorcerer wins. Great mobility and excellent burst capability make it the current PVP class to be with their huge shields, which will eventually get nerfed. They will experience a few nerfs in the upcoming DLC/expansion. I think they will still be better than DKs for PVP even after the nerf. They suck at PVE though. Literally the worst DPS class, the worst tank class and close to the worst healer class (might be a little bias here, but not by much). Their lack of hardly any sustainable DPS means they have to rely on burst, which often dies off to terrible numbers within 30-60 seconds of a fight start and boss fights can last several minutes.0 -
Corrupted_Soul✭✭✭in PVE the DK has fantastic DPS and is great for DSA, Trials etc.
Deltia has a fantastic DPS build that will out-dps any sorc in PVE.
