Wasn't really sure where to post this, I hit vet 1 last week, loved the leveling in game and probs ran 6-7 normal dungeons along the way.
But now the VR ranks seem to slow, so I thought I'd jump into vet dungeons as the pledges make the queues quicker.......nope

Past 5 days I've wasted 9 hours using the dungeon queue finder, it either finds 2 tanks (who both queued just tank), or it finds a VR6 and VR4 then me and another at VR1, meaning they laugh and leave the group straight away.

I saw the quakecon video where they said they would be making all 3 factions able to dungeon together making the queues quicker, but that its most likely 6 months away from being put into the game.

long queues aside console users just seem different to PC players, in the sense that even when reading out boss mechanics you still see others run around like headless chickens. (only so many times I can say kill the healers first and watch them take aggro from the boss that I'm trying to kite)

So tl:dr is if the dungeon changes are not coming for at least 6 months is it worth hanging around?, or should I leave the game and come back once the system is actually working.

I love the game and the story, but I hit vet with the intention of doing the vet dungeons, and doing the silver and gold Caldwell stuff during my lazy nights.

I hit Vet lvl 1 2 weeks ago and have not touched the game at all till this morning. Saw how slowly levels are going and I personally will not be playing until DLC which will include more exp gained and less exp required to level up. As much as I love ESO, Veteran ranks are clearly not made for people who want to progress while still maintaining a full time job and a social life.

So being I vet 12 I dont got a social life or work 8 hour a day because I got both. I just play smart in game.

You call 5 days of 9hours rushing? Sounds like he just wants to do a dungeon run to me

    Can I have your stuff?

You want to level...try playing the game...do quests, anchors, delves and dungeons. If you're sitting there for 9 hours with nothing to do but wait on the group finder to magically party you then take a hint...play the game. If you're waiting for the perfect party of DPS, healer and tank to magically form...you can run dungeons with groups of other compositions...I've done group dungeons duo with my Templar healer and a friend who is a dual wield/bow Nightblade...take a risk on a three person party it may just work if they're halfway decent.

Play smart? This isn't rocket science. There isn't some drawn out formula to leveling pal.

And I'm sure you've probably been playing everyday since release. Not all of us can do that. I'm not knocking anyone, just saying my current situation does not allow me to do so.

That is fine as they will be removing the VET rank system by name only... The CP you will not be getting will leave you so far behind it will take you a year to catch up if you never start grinding..

I know it sucks, but what are we gonna do eh? lol

Thanks for the replies, I can see some of your points.

One of the issues I had was where I'd queue, then go to the dagger starting area VR1 as I'm ebonheart, then I'd be mid way through a quest line, the queue would pop, I'd fast travel to the dungeon entrance, only to find 2/4 of the people are not in group chat so don't know where they are going.

that turns into 10-15 mins of waiting, messaging, then one either drops out then and there, or we have to boot and re-queue, meaning there's 2-3 of us awkwardly standing around waiting for a 4th member.
and then typical that if I port out to carry on questing till we find the 4th, he either joins right away (after fast travel :) ) and we go through the same issue again.

Also had cases where the party leader had it set to normal mode, jumps in and refuses to leave and restart as vet.
then the vet 6+ being added to the group issues
Also had it where I only queue for the vet pledge dungeon, and it adds people who have just completed it and queued for something complexly different.

What it seems like is a either have to find an awesome guild that runs vet 1+ pledge runs, or just quest quest quest in the other faction areas.

and stuff like the below statement just seems pointless, I love the game, love the story, will gladly buy any and all DLC they put out, and your first comment is can you have my stuff???

my beef is with the dungeon system.
    Can I have your stuff?.

I have to agree here with you tho. There is such a HUGE split on the vet rank dungeon runs. There are people spread all over the level range and people generally are like you said. Hope in a group and see they are one rank above/below you and they bolt. It harder to find groups without a decent guild or solid friends list. That can make the game more of a frustration as you spend more time looking for a group than actually PLAYING the game ;/

Nice triple post, thanks for the wealth of advice - and the cool story. @CidxLucy

    @KingKush

Dungeon finder can be pretty crappy, maybe try joining a guild. It worked for me, especially for the vet pledges.

The new exp drinks give a 50% boost and they should come down in price a bit in time for the DLC. may be worth a look if you want some quick levels.

Everyone knows the phenomenon of trying to hold your breath underwater - how at first it's alright and you can handle it, and then as it gets closer and closer to the time when you must breathe, how urgent the need becomes, the lust and the hunger to breathe. And then the panic sets in when you begin to think that you won't be able to breathe - and finally, when you take in air and the anxiety subsides...that's what it's like to be a vampire and need blood.

I fail to see the problem with the VR requirements. I suppose it's just the new lazy MMO generation (and/or console players).

I am having tons of fun after Vet level 1. Sure it's slow, but actually I dont care about levelling. That's only an extra attribute point and skill point. Now you dont need to hit a new level to be able to increase your skills, and many quests, skyshards give skillpoints, so I am feeling progress a lot.

I picked up a new craft, trying new weapon combos, magic whereas I was using melee etc.

Sadly I had similarly bad experience with dungeons too, but luckily it's not always like that. I often got quite good PUGs too. The guild I found for instance was through a PUG run too. They noticed how I play, and asked me around for later times too.

So my whole post and you focus on the "seems too slow", don't really care that much about the speed of vet ranks, I'm about 3/4 towards VR2 from questing (and the many failed vet dungeons after downing first boss)

so i'll say again as people seem to think this is a QQ post about vet rank xp, it really really really is not, its about the queue system and the amount of time I've wasted on that.

and how all I want to do is try the awesome vet dungeons and be able to complete any of them as they seem leagues better than normal mode dungeons.

Yeah I've had issues with people not being ready to be in Vet dungeons even though they are at vet level. Met a vet 6 that didn't know about blocking yesterday... :'(

A lot of people l don't know how to get to dungeons, or even how to teleport to player.

The only time I get mad is when people mark themselves as the wrong role to get a group. It is petty easy to get by in normals, but Vets... usually the liars can't even pull their weight even in the role they think they are.

I end up running with guildies that are a lot lower VR than I am for Achievements and Undaunted stuff. Eventually they will catch up.
