Make werewolf a toggle that's unlimited
  • DigitalCow
I'm not sure what you mean.
But I'm guessing you want your character to have the option to permanently become a werewolf or let it be toggled.
Obviously this will probably never happen, having such a feature will be way to OP to be toggled.

Originally it was supposed to toggle. Apparently there was some systemic issue. Though, apparently, not a balance issue. Of course, since then it's been beefed up considerably, and turning into a toggle would be hilariously broken.

Didn't you just make a topic stating that you are leaving the game? (Which got locked)

They are not changing werewolf to what you want it, and they are not adding console text chat at this point.

Move on, and stop spamming the boards.

I'm not sure with Daggerfall, but I think it was until sunrise. Morrowind was sunset to sunrise every night, and Skyrim was on a timer, just like ESOs. With devouring your foes extending that timer.

The big difference was, with Skyrim your timer was potentially unlimited. It started at a minute or two, but each time you devoured a foe it would extend by a fixed amount with no upper cap. So you could get into a situation where you'd be a werewolf forever, unless you decided to sit in a cave and wait for two or three days.

And since Mr GoingBackToDCUO brought it up. In Daggerfall, Hircine's Ring would prevent transformations while worn.

Morrowind's Ring let you transform (even if you weren't a werewolf) at will (day or night), but you'd revert out at dusk or dawn, whichever came next.

Skyrim's let you use your transform more than once per 24 hours. But, the Vestige and Dragonborn are the only protagonists in the series that can control their transformations and transform at will without the use of a daedric artifact.

There is nothing in Skyrim that permanently made you a Werewolf.

They are not going to make that a toggle option in ESO.

Please stop spamming the same thing over and over and over because you are not getting the answer that you want rather than the truth.

I always thought it would be more fun to give us access to the werewolf skills while in human form (they would be weaker of course), and then make the werewolf ultimate increase the power of those skills significantly. There are several animations used by blood fiends which capture the feral theme of a werewolf in human form, so those could easily be used/slightly altered to fit this change.

This would support the idea that a human who had become a werewolf would have increased physical abilities. The reduced poison resistance could then be made a full-time weakness. It could also be limited so that having the werewolf ultimate on your bar disabled any non-werewolf skills on that bar, and swapping to that bar would put you into your fetal attack pose. This would help prevent issues caused by having a more than one weapon-based skill (and therefore weapon-based stance) active on a bar. I imagine weapons and their stats could stay the same; the weapon models would just be hidden when on the werewolf bar.

My concern with this idea is that this would require a stamina build. It seems like werewolf transformation is the only ultimate in the game which does not scale off of your highest stat (i.e., stamina or magicka). If i remember correctly from pre 1.6, transforming increased your stats; but because werewolf was so stamina dependant, if your human form was not a stamina build, you're werewolf would be at a disadvantage due to lower stamina. This may have been changed with 1.6, though; I can't say because I found vampire more useful for my magicka build. If it was not changed, that means it's perfectly viable for an archer to call a meteor down from the sky, but shapeshifting cannot be a magic-based process for some reason.

@ZOS_RichLambert, would you be able to confirm if the werewolf ultimate does not scale off of magicka?

Before 1.4 (I think), Werewolves scaled with max stamina. Now they use weapon damage for their attacks, but I'm not sure what else is going on under the surface.

Really though it doesn't have to be a toggle, but making the ultimate cheaper and allowing us to save ultimate earned while in form really should be a thing. Also vanishing food in Cyrodiil and devour time are also issues that should be looked into.

I always felt that the Werewolf form should be a toggle Ultimate like Overload. If you use attacks or abilities in that form, it drains your reservoir of Ultimate. When you transform, you get a third bar, just like Overload, that can only hold Werewolf abilities. It would be a nice alternative than what we have now. The weaknesses and strengths would apply in toggle form, anyway - no one gains an advantage by implementing this change.
With this change, it's a risk/reward choice for the player:
Leave themselves possibly exposed to FG attacks/WW weaknesses in WW form, but can attack/react immediately with their WW bonuses already active.
    OR
Play it safe and activate it when they're ready, at the expense of transform time and lack of WW bonuses until transform is complete.
