Is Overload glitched?

Not sure if I am doing something wrong or the skill itself has issues?

I decided to make a magic based sorc, not very good at it but enjoying it non the less, been trying different set ups by looking at forum builds and live streams, but seem to have an issue when I activate this skill, it either works and I feel like a GOD or it sort of works then doesn't and my character just stands there with sparkle hands

nothing more to do but jump about and prey I distract them with my magic trick......

If there is an issue with this skill, what other would you recommend?

While in overload form, you can still use your normal class abilities - pput some on the skill bar and use them together with overload light/heavy attacks.

Each light attack uses up a certain amount of ultimate. Once you have less ultimate left than required for a light attack, you will not drop the "form" but be unable to cast light attacks. Press your ultimate button again to disable the "overload form" and return to your normal bar.

I have no comments in regards to your build, since you did not provide any build to comment on.

That's the problem, when it goes wrong I either have uncontrollable lightening coming out of my hands constantly or nothing works and all I can do is repeatedly press L1-R1 to deactivate it? sometimes it will go wrong and I can still use other skills but not all the time?

i guess you are playing on consoles.

so you have no indicator of the amount of stacked ulti you have as the golden circle around your ulti only indicates its one time usage.
so overload is the only ulti that allows you to use it multiple times in a row if you have stackedup enough ulti - 58per each use you can stack up to 1000ulti but as you have no indicator on consoles for that information you are pretty much fu..ed as you have to guess how much you have allready stacked.
so if you activate it the moment it becomes possible you will be able to unleash one overload wich is laughable, but if you use it at 800+ ulti it is quite abyssmal to your npc enemys...

Well, no, overload attack costs 30 ultimate each, 27 with sorc lightning passives, you can do 2 hits and become stuck as you don't have enough for the 3rd until you build up some more ultimate. (That's if you activate the ability at 80 ultimate minimum).

To OP: You need to cancel the overload form and build up some more ultimate, which explains why you are stuck without ability to use it, as said above, it does not cancel the ultimate when it runs dry, you need to disable it manually by pressing the ultimate button again.
Remember, each light or heavy attack builds up 16 ultimate over time, with normal fighting make sure you use them and you can build up 1k ultimate (max) in about 5 minutes. Blocking and healing people also contributes to ultimate count.
