The maps messed up. Chorral (city in TES 4 oblivion) would be situated in the Bangkorai desert area. Unless Bangkorai's geography pretty much makes a 180° in less than 1000 years then it too is in wrong location. Chedinhal is also in an improper location/geography.
I expected this when I went in, but I didn't expect a complete destruction of land.UltimaJoe777 wrote: »Also this is 2E not 4E so naturally things are different.

Huh? Where did it say that? I thought all of the lore referred to Riften as a hub of caravan trade (particularly between Skyrim and Morrowind). I mean, it is on a lake, so it would make sense for there to be some trade on the lake, but I thought the bulk of Riften's trade was always supposed to be by caravan. One question that's been bugging me since Skyrim, and now ESO, is how in the world was Riften ever a shipping port? Judging from the layouts of both areas, there's no freaking way ships could get in or out, let alone trade.

Not sure when I said it was Skyrim 2.0... I am just asking why the land is different and missing in 2E than in 4E? Did all a sudden land fall from the sky right above Windhelm?Forestd16b14_ESO wrote: »

I get would have taken more time to create the whole land, but they could do what they did with other parts and shown them right on the map but not accessible right now in game.

So i was watching my friend play in Eastmarch and she tried to go further north to see if she could get to Winterhold. By no means did we think she could get there, but looking at the main map there isn't really land north of Windhelm. Looking at an old Skyrim map you had a good amount of land North of it. So is there lore that says north of Windhelm an island collided with Skyrim to take that northern part? Or did ZOS mess up some of the mapping?

Because this is an ESO forum, with no off-topic subforums. Threads about other games don't contribute to discussion about ESO, so they are shut down. I don't necessarily agree that it should be that way, but I understand that it's zeni's stance, and this is their forum to run how they like.
This thread has stayed open because it is about ESO, specifically the map of the Skyrim province in ESO compared to the known world map from 4E 201. It led to more in depth analysis and discussion of the maps in ESO and other Tamrielic games and sources.
That's why
Why would you find that dubious? In this era Skyrim is divided in two, with a High King in Windhelm, and a High King in Solitude. Actually, I guess it's divided in 3 because I believe the Reach is its own independent kingdom ruled by the Reachmen. Only Eastern Skyrim (under Jorunn) is part of the Ebonheart Pact - Western Skyrim is staying out of the alliance war (for now anyway).Pendrillion wrote: »As far as I hear the Nord Cartographers borked royaly, according to Lawrence Schick. Also... The Western Part of Morrowind is almost eaten up by Skyrim. Furthermore, from ingame accounts the Whiterun holds and other Marches and some areas from Morrowind did not Partake in the Ebonheart Pact. So far... Which I find a bit dubious. But Okay...

Maybe they should just remove Elder Scrolls from the name of the game. I mean, what did they expect? Of course the name has drawn many, MANY fans of the ES series. Nothing wrong with expecting more continuity.
Personally, I am disappointed that the Falmer are missing in ESO.
