SHIELD DYES....

Yep. It's me again talking about the fact that it has been almost a YEAR since the dye system has been implemented. In patch 1.3.3 on August 4th, 2014, we were finally able to dye our armor. Well at least partially.... I'm assuming that someone on the dye team decided that shields were both armor and not armor since it was held by your hand. But yet even the game recognizes shields as armor since it receives armor buffs and traits just like every piece of armor.

Tired of mismatched armor dyes where your shield sticks out like an ugly sore thumb? Too bad. The devs haven't heard it enough to make a move on the dye system. They are too tied up on the PVP update that not everyone is happy about. Not to mention console has them tied up to the point where pc is getting ignored. A sign that PC is getting ignored is the fact that the launcher doesn't even receive news updates like it used to before console was released.

But anyways, back to the main topic. I'm confident that the new update will satisfy most and upset a lot and it STILL won't have any update to the dye system that lets us dye our shield. I'm not talking about guild tabards since they already said no to them. They acknowledged that they wanted to get shield dyes in game but obviously it hasn't gone further than them actually talking about it. With the speed that they update the system, they could have updated shield dyes months ago. I have all the confidence in the world that the dye system could be updated quickly but it won't for a while.

In fact, I'm betting on it. I will make a bet for 1.000 gold pieces (one thousand in-game gold) that the new update will NOT have shield dyes just like every update the last year hasn't. I will pay 1,000 to anyone who takes the bet and wins against me. So lets say it again. Anyone who thinks shield dyes will be in game when the Imperial City update goes live can bet against me and if you are right, I will pay you 1,000 gold.

I'm easy to find since my name on here is my in game screen name as well.

So who wants to bet against me? Better get on your devs and tell them you want some shield dyes before it's too late...

Inb4 thread lock - due to the bet.

On a side note, the shield dyes are definitely needed. I'm OCD, and having mismatched colors irritates me like no other

Both sheild and weapon dyes are/have been worked on.

For the life of me I cant find the reference, but I have seen images that show the player dyable areas on some sheilds and weapons.

Again, I cant verify but I saw a post on reddit from ZOS (they need to STOP posting on Reddit and post here, but thats some political deniability crap i expect) that talked about us being able to put our guild insignia and colours on the sheilds.

Obviosuly while this WAS looked at, it could be classed as "shrodingers shield n weapon dyes" who knows what state its in now. Is it alive and good and on the way or have we killed it by looking into the box? (im quite proud of that one by the way, I use it as oftern as possible)

Like @Djeriko I would love to know just how far along this subject is, or if we have killed it off for good.

Shields are in the works and hopefully added in a near future patch. How ever weapons dyes are a diffrent story for they have to figure out a 3 color scheme for blades axes bows ect ect but the problem is not that but they have to go through every single weapon in the game including special weapons such as the Prisim Blade from the fighters guild line or the Emperors Blessing from the main story and that's the tip of the blade so to speak of weapon dyes. So both in the works but shield will be here before weapons.

I just hope soon though tired of a freaking purple greatsword with my lore friendly grey metal and brown leather armor. Well plus be nice to truely show Pact pride with a red leather and grey greatsword with my grey gold trimmed armor.

This is another one of those "being worked on things" that ZoS is bad about, in the sense that it should have been done and out months ago, not still being worked on today. (Along with appearance changes).

On August 4th, 2015, it will be exactly one year since the armor dye system was implemented into the game with patch 1.3.3. With exactly one year since, the fanbase has not seen any work on shield dyes. With such a crucial part of armor left undyed and particularly ugly in a lot of cases with everyone that uses a shield screaming for it, how can we expect new polished systems to be as great as advertised when the prior systems are left incomplete?

My Ancient Elves shield style with edges colored in turquoise makes it hard to match, had to dye some parts of armor into Necromancer Blue to match it. Then it was so ugly that I switched to staff.

Shield dyes would be nice, why wouldn't they implement it its counted as armor right?
While we're at it let puncture and Low-Slash be used without a shield. :/

What kind of odds are you giving on the bet? You seem pretty sure. How about 3 to 1?

If they don't add it I'll pay you 1,000 gold and if they do add it you pay me 3,000 gold?

Oh no. I hate to have my immersion ruined by a multi-colored shield ......or giant men running around in wedding dresses.

Explain the logic behind allowing male characters to wear wedding dresses but forbidding players from dying shields. It's just silly.

Whatever reason you say is behind allowing male players to wear wedding dresses....just plug it into "______is why we should be able to dye shields" and that should pretty much settle it.

I'm not even going for winning the bet if they don't install it because if they don't, it will just mean more ranting from yours truly and more annoying the devs until it gets in. I fully intend to pay up on my side of the bet but don't pay me if I win. Ultimate goal is to just....dye....my....shield! But yeah I'll pay up if they do it before or when IC goes live. To guarantee that you win, just make your voice heard to the devs that shield dyes really need to be in the game instead of just constantly being pushed to the back burners.

Don't know what you're talking about.

I just LOVE my urine-yellow and faded-bronze shield because it's an ideal match for my grey-black and silver armor. /sarcasm

Honestly, though, I would love to see shield dyes. Weapon dyes might be nice, but I'm honestly not that worried about them, as they aren't quite as noticeable as shields--and as mentioned, shields are at least half-considered armor, so it makes no sense why they weren't included in the initial update.

    +1 for shield dyes.

Tomorrow will make it exactly one year since dyes were put in game and someone (in their infinite wisdom) decided shields are not armor or rather just said "Ehh screw tanks. They don't need their shields to be dyed. They need to look ugly because they aren't DPS." Sad ZOS, very sad...

Shield and weapon dyes, in games that implement dye systems, always seem to come after armor. I have yet to figure out why this is, but everyone game reports "technical difficulties" with implementing dye for these particular items. I've tried my best to make sense of why dying a weapon would be harder than dying an armor piece, but after so many games have done/said the same thing, I can only assume there really is such an issue.
